You Will Be Responsible For:

  • Assists anesthesia professional staff as requested: Assists in preparation and draping of patient for invasive monitoring procedures by licensed anesthesia providers. Assists and anticipates the needs of licensed anesthesia providers in invasive monitor insertion and procedures such as pulmonary artery catheter, central venous access, regional anesthesia, fiber optic intubation and is familiar with the ASA Difficult Airway Algorithm.

  • Anticipates needs for invasive monitoring according to daily OR schedule. Aids in preparation of patients for major invasive monitoring and/or complex cases including, but not limited to, replacement of cuff, ECG leads, Pulse Oximeter, and positioning.

  • Sets up OR for cases that may include the following: Preparation for laryngoscope, intubation equipment, IV solution and tubing set-up, and set up of IV warming devices.

  • Makes available, assembles, and assists with operation of specialized equipment such as, humidification units; fiber optic endoscopic equipment; rapid infusion devices/blood warmers; patient warming devices; neuromuscular devices; infusion pumps and syringes; balloon pump initial setups and TEE setup.

  • Maintains and organizes the anesthesia environment, equipment, supplies and personnel to facilitate department functions. Maintains the availability of necessary equipment in each operating room. Participates in room turnovers to ensure efficient flow of cases.

Qualifications

What You Will Need:

  • BLS

  • ASATT (American Society of Anesthesia Technologists and Technicians) Certified Anesthesia Technician or Technologist

  • Two-years of experience as an anesthesia tech.

  • Experience working with patients in an acute care setting or operating room. (Preferred)

  • High school diploma or GED. (Preferred)

  • Completion of an ASATT approved anesthesia tech program or completion of the AdventHealth Anesthesia tech training program. (Preferred)

Job Summary:

The Certified Anesthesia Technician assists the licensed anesthesia providers in the acquisition, preparation and application of the equipment and supplies required for the administration of anesthesia. Anesthesia Technicians provide support in anesthesia for routine and complex surgical cases. The Anesthesia Technician prepares and maintains patient monitoring devices and anesthesia delivery systems before, during and after anesthesia. The Technician maintains equipment and provides servicing such as cleaning, sterilizing, assembling, calibrating and testing, troubleshooting, requisitioning and recording of inspections and maintenance of anesthesia equipment. May operate a variety of mechanical, pneumatic and electronic equipment used to monitor, evaluate and manage the patient undergoing anesthesia. The anesthesia tech participates in Operating/Procedure room turnover and performs activities as directed to ensure efficiency and safe patient care in Surgery/Procedure environment. Provides supply management. Including stocking of non-narcotics medications.
