Clinical Office Supervisor
The Clinical Office Supervisor, is responsible for
providing hands-on clinical care to patients within the scope of the Medical
Practice Act, as well as directing and guiding back office staff in monitoring
and expediting workflow. This position helps in ensuring the back office
operations of the office function smoothly and that the proper protocols are in
place. Performs a wide variety of
patient care activities and accommodates services for the physicians and the
practice, following established standards, practices, policies and procedures.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOBRESPONSIBILITIES :
Effectively leadsthe work of clinical staff and other staff, as required.Serves as an effective mentor andeducational resource to staff.Servesas an additional resource, when needed, in regards to billing or codingissues at the practice.
Participates ininterviewing applicants and provides appropriate feedback to hiringmanager, as needed.Providesvaluable information to supervisors for employee performance evaluations,as needed.Schedules and assignsclinical staff to ensure workflow is maintained and daily tasks arecompleted.
May escortpatients to exam rooms, interview patients, measure vital signs anddocument all information in patient’s chart.
Ensures allrelated reports, labs and information is filed and is available inpatients’ medical records prior to their appointment.
Providesinstructions to patients as instructed by provider. Effectively explainsprocedures and treatments to patients and to significant others whennecessary.Ensures consents fortreatment are executed according to AdventHealth Medical Group (AHMG)guidelines
Manages stockingof exam rooms with adequate medical supplies and maintenance/sterilizationof equipment and instruments. Supervises all logs and required checks.Collaborates with appropriate team members to insure the practice meetsall regulatory requirements.
Communicateseffectively with providers, clinical workers, patients and front officestaff to ensure the best care and optimal medical practice conditions.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED :
Ability todemonstrate sound judgment and composure with the ability to takeappropriate action in questionable or emergency situations.
Must be willing to float to other AdventHealthMedical Group (AHMG practices), within reason, when patient load, vacationschedules etc. make it necessary.
Demonstrates ability to communicate by reading,writing legibly, speaking and comprehending English effectively in order tocarry out job requirements.
Experience with computers.
KNOWLEDGEAND SKILLS PREFERRED:
EDUCATIONAND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED :
High school graduate or equivalent.
Graduate of a recognized Medical Assistant program orAccredited School of Nursing.
2 years of medical office experience
EDUCATIONAND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
LICENSURE,CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED :
Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) Certification, American Medical
Technologist (AMT) Certification or current, valid Florida State Board of
Nursing, Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse License. American Association of Medical Assistants
(AAMA) Certification or American Medical Technologist (AMT) Certification is
required to be obtained with the first 90 days of employment for those not
possessing this minimum certification. (Not required for current LPN or RN
license.) National Center for
Competency Testing (NCCT) Certification will be accepted for employees who
began employment prior to November 15, 2012, but the certification must not
lapse or else is required to then obtain AAMA or AMT Certification or LPN or RN
valid CPR certification is required.
