The role you’ll contribute:

The Executive Director of Design and Construction Center of Excellence (D&C CoE) plans, develops, and executes the system-wide vision for building and maintaining construction projects in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations, and organizational guidelines. The Executive Director is responsible for the strategic management of D&C CoE services. Develops and recommends methodologies to ensure that D&C CoE operates within budget, evaluating supply and labor usage needed to meet established annual metrics. Develops new business opportunities, implements required training and development of team members, and oversees the service level agreements with each division. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

The AdventHealth Design & Construction Center of Excellence (D&C CoE) will centralize and enable standard processes, policies, and industry-best practices, while also improving the execution, consistency, stewardship, and delivery of projects

The value you’ll bring to the team:

  • Provides executive level oversight and direction to system-wide delivery and performance of the D&C CoE throughout AdventHealth.

  • Evaluates current systems and processes to determine and establish industry best practices, develops and implements highest level of standards for a comprehensive Center of Excellence program.

  • Develops support and training programs to ensure all staff, general contractors and subcontractors are knowledgeable of current codes and regulations with regulatory agency requirements (OSHA, DNV, CMS), and with internal policies and procedures.

  • Provides JCAHO / DNV advice and guidance to hospital department leaders and other personnel on policy interpretations and related matters, ensuring compliance.

  • Develops and monitors annual operating budget and fiscal accountability for the department.Works with directors and staff to establish proactive, long range capital project and equipment planning.

  • Ensures the implementation of all design and construction projects are executed at appropriate levels of quality and meet the Organization’s sustainability, ESG plan and are effectively commissioned prior to occupancy.

  • Partners with Executive Teams for Master Planning Strategy Sessions to proactively design future state for each facility.

  • Together with the CoE Divisional Directors, develops and implements systems to monitor project performance against budget authorization, project schedules and established standards. This includes identifying variances and working with project management staff to develop and implement plans to correct ineffective operations.

  • Supports and encourages professional development through participation in educational programs and professional organizations, and activities to maintain knowledge of national trends and to promote leading edge performance.

  • Ensures departments maintain effective and appropriate communication and customer service within all sectors of the community including; approval agencies, community boards and with private citizens.

  • Builds capabilities within departments by coaching, developing, evaluating and mentoring, department directors, managers, and other team members.

Qualifications

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed :

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Business, or related field

  • 15 years experience in project or facilities management with an emphasis in healthcare.

  • Previous experience must include overseeing renovations and new, freestanding construction projects.

  • 10 years senior leadership experience

  • Expert knowledge of local Department of Health Administration regulations, JCAHO / DNV standards, and other applicable codes of the construction industry.

  • Expert knowledge of the design and construction industry and standard practices, and how they relate to healthcare facilities.

  • Expert understanding of architectural practices including master planning, feasibility studies, medical planning, building design and construction documents.

  • Comprehensive understanding of large engineering systems such as; HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and engineering maintenance, including ability to problem solve effectively.

  • Excellent project management, financial analysis, and strategic planning skills required

  • Ability to read and interpret construction documents, Revit, CAD drawings and related documents

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:

  • Current certification as a Certified Healthcare Constructor (CHC) by the American Society of Healthcare Engineering (ASHE), within 1 year of hire

  • Lean Practitioner Certification from the Lean Construction Institute (LCI), within 1 year of hire
