AdventHealth is seeking qualified candidates for Vice President/Chief Medical Information Officer, Post-Acute & Community Connect (VP/CMIO) located in Orlando, Florida.

GENERAL SUMMARY :

Reporting to AdventHealth Chief Medical Information Officer, VP/CMIO will have a dotted line reporting relationship with the EVP Physician Enterprise and Ventures The expectation is that this position will also closely align with the VP AdventHealth Information Technology (AIT) Ambulatory. The VP/CMIO is responsible for oversite and coordination of all clinical activity associated with or impacted by AdventHealth Clinical IT Systems, including employed physician offices, post-acute care, ambulatory facilities, the Physician Enterprise, home care, and the extension of AdventHealth Clinical IT Systems into the community

Principle Duties and Job Responsibilities :

The duties set forth below are related solely to the AdventHealth employed physician practices, home health, hospice, long term care (LTC), Community Connect, and ambulatory surgery, radiology, and rehab facilities.

  • Support the business strategies relative to physician and clinical workflows, related to the execution of AdventHealth, AIT and ambulatory strategies

  • Align with AdventHealth’s strategic goals, by advising the EVP Physician Enterprise and Ventures, the VP AIT Ambulatory and the AdventHealth Chief Medical Information Officer on the need to leverage or configure AdventHealth’s Clinical IT systems to better meet the needs of physicians and clinicians in the Physician Enterprise and users of Community Connect.

  • Serve as the key representative and advocate for physicians, Advance Practice Providers (APPs) and other clinicians by developing an understanding of their needs and building relationships with them to promote effective engagement, adoption of AdventHealth Clinical IT, organizational strategies and initiatives, and the extension of AdventHealth’s clinical IT platforms into the community, including membership on Community Physician and Physician Enterprise governance councils.

  • Enable patient and consumer engagement through collaboration with the Digital and AIT teams on emerging technologies, social media, and stratified health information to drive improved wellness, prevention, and management of chronic disease as well as “retail” health, telehealth, hospital at home and other new and developing methods of health delivery as established by the Physician Enterprise and Ventures group.

  • Establish an open line of communication with the administrative and clinical leadership at the various AdventHealth Physician Enterprise, Ambulatory, and Community facilities across the organization and therefore being recognized as their chosen contact (“go to”) person.

  • Membership in the Executive leadership team of the Physician Enterprise and represent AIT on the PE Governance council.

  • Responsibilities include facilitation of improved care, data, and workflows, as our patients and consumers move across our network of care, from acute to ambulatory, post-acute, home health, hospice and long-term care.

  • Work closely with AdventHealth Legal, Risk and Compliance Rapid Decision Group (RDG) to ensure compliance with organizational policies and regulatory standards.

  • Collaborate with the AdventHealth Medical Group Chief Medical Officers and Chief Nursing Officers, operational leadership, AdventHealth’s Chief Quality and Safety Officer and Community Medical Practices to achieve best practices and clinical excellence, within regulatory guidelines.

  • Develop new or modify existing workflows to meet or comply with new regulatory requirements

  • Help leverage the investment that has been made in the EMR, and other advanced clinical and non-clinical technologies, by analyzing medical and health data and by recommending potential areas for improved workflows, optimization, leverage new capabilities delivered by the vender and identify and evaluate new technologies when appropriate, cost reduction, care expansion, and quality improvement.

  • Work with AIT to maximize value by evaluating opportunities for the expanded adoption of existing technologies.

  • Develop strategies, training and change management plans to better engage physician and clinicians in the use of AdventHealth clinical technology systems.

  • Collaborate with the EVP, Physician Enterprise and Ventures, the VP AIT Ambulatory, AIT Senior VP Epic Transformation and the AdventHealth CMIO to facilitate, coordinate and implement the portfolio of strategic initiatives that have been prioritized by corporate and market clinical and operational leadership.

  • Provide expert counsel to the Market and Division Executive teams, AdventHealth CMIO, Division CMIOs, and the AIT Informatics teams, on clinical IT decisions outside of the hospital walls that could impact clinicians, patient care, and community practice strategies as well as patient and/or consumer satisfaction.

  • Interface with and support the Division and Regional CMIOs, as they provide support for the employed physician groups in their respective markets

  • Work with the AdventHealth CMIO and AdventHealth Chief Analytics Officer to facilitate the flow of information between the various acute, post-acute, ambulatory, community and non-AdventHealth venues of care, to provide clinicians the information needed to arrive at the best clinical decisions.

  • Assess the opportunity to use data and analytics to improve the quality of care that is delivered in the AdventHealth care network and facilities, outside of the hospital walls.

  • Act as an advocate for the clinicians, and ultimately the patients and consumers, by communicating with physicians and clinicians about the benefits of adopting technology to improve care, while acting as a conduit to provide their feedback to AIT, the AdventHealth CMIO and market leadership.

  • Build relationships with physicians, clinicians, AIT informatics and technical teams across the acute, ambulatory, Community Connect and post-acute venues of care to promote clinical excellence and consumer engagement, through the use of clinical information technology.

  • Serve on various market, executive, and technology committees, representing both consumers and clinicians.

  • The CMIO will leverage the investment that has been made in the EMR, and other advanced clinical and non-clinical technologies, by analyzing medical and health data and by using that data to help reduce the cost of care, more efficiently use the workforce, expand access to care, and improve the quality of care, to help prepare the organization to meet the demands of the new healthcare delivery and payment models and to connect the AdventHealth network of care around the consumer.

  • Although there are no direct reporting relationships currently, the CMIO has the responsibility to ensure that his or her Division and Regional CMIO, AIT and the Informatics colleagues are prepared for their interactions in the Physician Enterprise, Community Physician and Venture settings.

Qualifications

Education, Experience, and Licensure REQUIRED :

  • MD / DO degree from an accredited program

  • Board certified in a recognized medical specialty

  • Current unrestricted US medial license

  • Clinical informatics experience in ambulatory care setting

  • Clinical information systems experience with a focus on adoption of the related components, including front-end voice recognition, electronic documentation, mobile technologies, clinical decision support, computerized provider order entry, in physician practices and ambulatory venues of care and the benefits and complexities associated with a connected continuum of care using a single EHR platform

  • Minimum of 5 years of clinical practice providing direct patient care

Education, Experience and Licensure Preferred :

  • Current or recent (within the past two years) clinical practice
