AdventHealth Apopka seeks
to hire an ED Advanced Tech I who will embrace our mission to extend the
healing ministry of Christ.
AdventHealth Apopka is a seven-story, 120-bed
hospital offering an extensive range of services including expanded surgical
services, advanced surgical suites and a catheterization lab. The hospital also
features a 30,000-square-foot emergency department with pediatric-friendly
beds, imaging services, a full-service cafeteria, chapel, gift shop and on-site
fire station. The hospital opened in December 2017, replacing the 50-bed
hospital that AdventHealth had operated in downtown Apopka for more than four
The Emergency Department is a full-service
16-bed unit that averages 90 patients per day, with approximately 15 daily
admissions. Particularly difficult cases may be transferred to one of the other
AdventHealth facilities for complex medical treatment and procedures. This
state-of-the-art facility is equipped with the latest technology, including
computerized charting and streptokinase infusion.
Knowledge, Skills,Education, & Experience Required:
Completion of an EMT program
Licensure,Certification, or Registration Required:
Licensed by the State ofFlorida as an EMT
through behavior AdventHealth’s core Values of Keep Me Safe, Love Me, Make it

Attaches 12 lead EKG’s andcompletes test before giving strip to physician on duty. Initiates cardiacmonitoring, and performs venipuncture for testing. Initiates cardiacmonitoring, demonstrates ability to detect dysrhythmias and notifies theassigned nurse or charge nurse of abnormalities. Initiates oxygen therapyas directed by RN or Physician.
Transports of unmonitoredpatient to inpatient departments as needed, transportation of stable (noblood infusion drips or no oxygen > 50%) monitored patient toPCU/med-tele, or accompany RN to transport patient to specialty units.
Assists physician or RN withprocedures and exams; i.e. set up and clean up for sutures, pelvic exams,lumbar punctures, application of orthopedic splints and casting, etc.Applies slings, sling-n-swathe, finger splints, application of dressings,etc. Follows CDC isolation guidelines, demonstrates appropriate use ofPPE, performs hand washing according to policy and enforces safetyregulations.
Utilizes age-specificcompetencies in the care of all patient populations.
Is a customer service championas demonstrated by AIDET, keeping patients informed, providing informationand updates to patients, apologizing for waits, demonstrating caring,compassion, & concern, demonstrating a sense of urgency, advocatingfor pain management, and ensuring that patients can get help at any time.Performs hourly rounding on patients to keep them informed and to ensurethat the patients have call bells, pillows, blankets as needed, that caregivers names are on the boards (applicable campuses), and that patient andfamily needs are exceeded.
Maintains (room and work areaorganization and stocking levels) per 5 S principles. Maintains rooms andwork area cleanliness.
Relieves HUC as assigned,performs accurate order entry, and manages phone calls.
Performs other duties asassigned or directed to ensure the smooth operation of the department orunit.
