Schedule: Part Time 16 hrs/week

Shift : Saturdays and Sundays 8a-5p

The role you’ll contribute:

Performs selected patient treatments under the general supervision of the Supervising and/or Staff Physical Therapist, supervisor or director or designee and has the responsibility for the overall direction, utilization, supervision, instruction and evaluation of supportive staff, volunteers and students working in the department. Prepares patients and equipment for treatment, helps perform the housekeeping duties of the department; performs other diverse duties as requested or required.

The value you’ll bring to the team:

· Performs direct patient care at a highly professional level and on a timely basis to meet the daily needs of the inpatient and outpatient schedules as assigned by the Clinical Coordinator.

· Provides treatment only after thoroughly reviewing the evaluation of the patient by a Physical Therapist.

· Every inpatient assigned will be seen by the Physical Therapist Assistant as ordered unless the patient is on hold.

· Demonstrates competence by administering treatment to the patient skill fully and safely in a caring and effective manner.

· Instructs patient and/or family in appropriate home programs to address patient needs and documents the rationale for these programs.

· Participates in discharge planning as evidenced by documentation, including providing home instructions and having equipment needs in place prior to discharge.

· Produces documentation appropriate for various levels and types of patient care within Physical Therapy Services and accepts responsibility for the Physical Therapy Department through generation of patient revenue.

· Consistently communicates with the referring physician through personal contact, progress notes, progress reports or telephone, all matters concerning changes in the patient’s status which are relevant to the Physical Therapy goals and assessment.

· Consistently communicates with the patient’s employer and Texas Rehabilitation Commission regarding return to work issues.

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:

Minimum qualifications :

· Graduate of an accredited physical therapy assistant program at the associate level.

· Must hold and keep current annually Texas licensure as a Physical Therapy assistant.
