You Will Be Responsible For:
Reviews patient history, physical information, medications, procedure request and study protocol.
Explains procedure and orients patient to the sleep center.
Prepare and calibrate equipment required for testing to determine proper functioning and adjust if necessary.
Perform appropriate physiologic calibrations to ensure proper signals and adjust if necessary.
Perform positive airway pressure mask fitting
Produces optimal recordings of EOG, EMG, EKG, SaO2, airflow, respiratory effort, CPAP and BIPAP.
Follow “lights out” procedures to establish and document baseline values such as body position, oxygen saturation, respiratory rate and heart rate.
Documents routine observations, including sleep stages and clinical events, changes in procedure, and other significant events to facilitate scoring and interpretation of polysomnographic results.
Follow “lights on” procedures to verify integrity of collected data and complete the data collection process (repeats the physiological and instrument calibrations and instructs the patient on completing questionnaires, etc.)
Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize and provide age specific care in the treatment, assessment, and education of pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations.
Adheres to all hospital policies and procedures in the performance of work duties.
What You Will Need:
RPSGT /RRT-SD Certification
The Polysomnographic Technologist will deliver safe and effective care, which is consistent with the standards of care for this discipline. A Polysomnographic Technologist works under the direction of a registered polysomnographic technologist and the clinical coordinator to provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders. This may involve polysomnography, diagnostic and therapeutic services or patient care and education. A Polysomnographic Technologist can provide supervision of a Polysomnographic Trainee.
