Work Hours/Shift:


You Will Be Responsible For:

  • Reviews patient history, physical information, medications, procedure request and study protocol.

  • Explains procedure and orients patient to the sleep center.

  • Prepare and calibrate equipment required for testing to determine proper functioning and adjust if necessary.

  • Perform appropriate physiologic calibrations to ensure proper signals and adjust if necessary.

  • Perform positive airway pressure mask fitting

  • Produces optimal recordings of EOG, EMG, EKG, SaO2, airflow, respiratory effort, CPAP and BIPAP.

  • Follow “lights out” procedures to establish and document baseline values such as body position, oxygen saturation, respiratory rate and heart rate.

  • Documents routine observations, including sleep stages and clinical events, changes in procedure, and other significant events to facilitate scoring and interpretation of polysomnographic results.

  • Follow “lights on” procedures to verify integrity of collected data and complete the data collection process (repeats the physiological and instrument calibrations and instructs the patient on completing questionnaires, etc.)

  • Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize and provide age specific care in the treatment, assessment, and education of pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations.

  • Adheres to all hospital policies and procedures in the performance of work duties.


What You Will Need:

  • RPSGT /RRT-SD Certification

  • BLS

Job Summary:

The Polysomnographic Technologist will deliver safe and effective care, which is consistent with the standards of care for this discipline. A Polysomnographic Technologist works under the direction of a registered polysomnographic technologist and the clinical coordinator to provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders. This may involve polysomnography, diagnostic and therapeutic services or patient care and education. A Polysomnographic Technologist can provide supervision of a Polysomnographic Trainee.
