The role you’ll contribute (Job Summary):

Works closely with Sterile Processing Department (SPD) Manager, Supervisor and OR Coordinators to assist in instrument repairs, quick turnovers, immediate use sterilization and any other staffing needs deemed necessary.

The value you’ll bring to the team (Role/Responsibilities):

• Performs routine tasks relating to the decontamination, processing, sterilization and distribution of instruments, equipment and sterile supplies.

• Responsible for general operating and monitoring of sterilization, maintaining records in compliance with AAMI, AORN, Joint Commission, and OSHA standards.

• Maintains certification, monitors and instructs certified and non-certified personnel. Communicates with departments and staff throughout the day to maintain a smooth workflow.

• Assures daily task assignments are completed. May be requested to assume responsibility in the absence of the Supervisor and/or Manager.

• Performs any other duties as assigned. Involved with training in competency of tasks performed by the staff and participates in hospital wide educational projects.

Qualifications

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed :

Required:

• Education: High School Diploma or GED

• Experience: 2 years of sterile equipment processing

• One of the following primary Central Services certifications is required upon hire or transfer: CRCST, CBSPDT

• One of the following post-primary certifications is required within one year of hire or transfer: CIS, CSIS, CER, CFER, CHL, CSPM, CASSP
