• AdventHealth Heart of Florida is a licensed 193-bed acute care hospital, coupled with outpatient services including imaging, rehab, lab and wound care, that has been serving the community for over 50 years.

The role you’ll contribute:

Under supervision of the Central Service Supervisor the Sterile Process Tech II is responsible for monitoring activities related to sterilization, decontamination, and disinfection for their assigned shift. Participates in staff evaluations, daily shift assignments, and performance improvement activities for the department. Participates in the orientation of new employees. Acts as a liaison between Central Services and other hospital departments to ensure availability of instrumentation and equipment as needed for patient care. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

The value you’ll bring to the team:

• Works in conjunction with the management team to plan for daily staffing assignments based on workload and labor standards. Prioritizes work throughout the shift to ensure instrumentation and equipment are available as needed.In the absence of department leadership, assumes responsibilities of the CS Supervisor/Manager.

• Monitors sterilization practices to ensure all standards are met.Keeps accurate records of all sterilizer loads.Utilizes knowledge of sterilization parameters and takes corrective action if parameters are not met.

• Ensures safe work practices for all employees.Monitors staff use of PPE in decontamination area.Promotes a safe environment.Takes appropriate action in emergency situations, demonstrates awareness and control of hazards which may endanger patients, visitors and employees.

• Monitors work environment to ensure infection control standards are met.Ensures department is cleaned on a daily basis.Monitors environmental controls (temp and humidity, air flow) and takes corrective action as needed.Identifies and reports any other environmental concerns to the management team.Identifies and resolves issues associated with malfunctioning equipment.

Qualifications

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed :

• One-year previous Central Service experience or Surgical Tech experience

• Central Service Tech Certification from IAHCSMM or Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD)
