The role you'll contribute:

A laboratory professional responsible for performance of all levels of general testing within the analytical laboratory. Provides a high level of technical knowledge and application of that knowledge to department testing and clinical relevance. Consistently functions in a self-directed manner and exhibits complex problem-solving skills.

The value you'll bring to the team:

• Receives specimens, assesses priority, assures appropriate specimen identification, and appropriate specimen. Participates in detecting and documenting occurrences that deviate from defined procedures.

• Assists with resolution of unusual test orders by following up with care giver, reference lab, pathology, referring to lab leadership when appropriate.

• Performs cytogenetic testing with a high level of competency according to established protocols.

• Generates and reports results which are used for making accurate diagnoses and prognoses which influences patient care and management.

• Handles and resolves customer complaints in a timely manner, referring when appropriate.

• May be required to participate in laboratory and/or hospital projects, teams, or committees. Attends department, laboratory, and hospital meetings and forums.

• Acts as a steward of finances through appropriate uses of supplies, materials, and productive activities.

• Recognizes and provides input for opportunities to improve productivity, lab workflow, supply management, and cost containment.

• Adheres to assigned schedule while responding to workload demands and staffing needs by maintaining flexibility.

• Serves as a liaison with other laboratory departments and hospital services.

• Assumes and demonstrates management responsibilities in the absence ofon-site leadership.

Qualifications

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:

Required:

• Associate degree

• MLS with ASCP certification, or MT/MLT with ASCP, AMT, or equivalent certification, or specialty ASCP

Preferred:

• Bachelor’s degree

• 1-year related work experience preferred
