The role you'll contribute:
A laboratory professional responsible for performance of all levels of general testing within the analytical laboratory. Provides a high level of technical knowledge and application of that knowledge to department testing and clinical relevance. Consistently functions in a self-directed manner and exhibits complex problem-solving skills.
The value you'll bring to the team:
Receives specimens, assesses priority, assures appropriate specimen identification, and appropriate specimen. Participates in detecting and documenting occurrences that deviate from defined procedures.
Assists with resolution of unusual test orders by following up with care giver, reference lab, pathology, referring to lab leadership when appropriate.
Performs cytogenetic testing with a high level of competency according to established protocols.
Generates and reports results which are used for making accurate diagnoses and prognoses which influences patient care and management.
Handles and resolves customer complaints in a timely manner, referring when appropriate.
May be required to participate in laboratory and/or hospital projects, teams, or committees. Attends department, laboratory, and hospital meetings and forums.
Acts as a steward of finances through appropriate uses of supplies, materials, and productive activities.
Recognizes and provides input for opportunities to improve productivity, lab workflow, supply management, and cost containment.
Adheres to assigned schedule while responding to workload demands and staffing needs by maintaining flexibility.
Serves as a liaison with other laboratory departments and hospital services.
Assumes and demonstrates management responsibilities in the absence ofon-site leadership.
Qualifications
The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:
Required:
Associate degree
MLS with ASCP certification, or MT/MLT with ASCP, AMT, or equivalent certification, or specialty ASCP
Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree
1-year related work experience preferred
