The role you'll contribute:

The purpose of the Senior Medical Staff Coordinator position is to ensure quality patient care by

effectively managing the Medical Staff’s Governance and Credentialing and Privileging functions. This

position manages multiple Medical Staffs which requires adapting to diverse organizational structures

and cultures, compliance with various systems/policies and physically being present at different

locations when necessary. This position functions with a great deal of autonomy in decision making/problem solving.

The value you'll bring to the team:

• Responsible for assembling and authenticating credentialing applications for all Medical Staff,

Advanced Practice Provider, Clinical Assistant, Medical Scribes across the system in accordance with

established department procedures and time frames. This includes, but is not limited to, importing

applications from the online application portal, the primary source verification of information, direct

communications with applicants, collection and analysis of information received, and pursuit of

additional information as necessary from external stakeholders.

• Assess and validate requests for waivers to threshold eligibility and privileging criteria for review by

the Governing Board in accordance with the Medical Staff Bylaws.

• Ensure database integrity and currency of all credentialing elements for high-volume of providers, to

include licensure, DEA registration, professional liability coverage, specialty-board certification, health

status, etc.

• Maintain integrity of the credentialing database and all practitioner records. Utilizes appropriate

monthly reports and audit tools to ensure accuracy and thoroughness of imported data as well data

that may be entered manually.

• Serve as a team lead for medical staff coordinators and specialists and participates in orientation and

training of new associates.

• Maintain competency on nationally recognized credentialing related initiatives through participation

with NAMSS, CAMSS, journal articles, webinars, and/or other industry related sources.

• Maintain competency on credentialing database via participation in online education learning

modules and skills related webinars.

Qualifications

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:

Required:

  • HS Diploma or GED required

  • Proven abilities in arbitrating and negotiating issues between physicians and Medical Staff leaders/hospital departments.

  • Demonstrated computer and database management skills, with previous experience utilizing credentialing software.

  • Three years credentialing/medical staff /payor enrollment related experience or degree in Medical Staff Services Management in lieu of experience.

  • Demonstrated working knowledge of The Joint Commission, CMS, and Department of Health standards.

Preferred:

  • Associate degree

  • CPMSM or CPCS certification, preferred
