The role you’ll contribute:

In collaboration with department leadership, is responsible for managing and enhancing the specimen testing processes in designated area of expertise. Applies high-level of relevant technical and leadership knowledge. Consults with laboratory leaders on technical processes. Functions in a self-directed manner. Oversees the integration of lab discipline within the hospital, ambulatory, and clinic environment. Assist in development and evaluation of test procedures, maintain an understanding of IT systems and data sources associated with lab discipline.

  • Ensure monthly supervisory review of QC data is performed efficiently and effectively by sites and that appropriate system comparisons are performed. Manage reagent utilization rates and ensure that equipment is optimized to meet customer requirements and to minimize excessive waste. Ensure key performance indicators meet internal goals and the expectations of leaders. Optimize test ordering and resulting processes and align with test utilization. Plan and direct instrument validations and new technology implementations

  • Maintain a high level of proficiency, understanding and in-depth working knowledge of the lab LIS, HIS, middleware and ambulatory computer systems from a user and optimization standpoint. Maintain a high level of proficiency and understanding of the accuracy and source of data that enter the LIS, HIS, middleware and ambulatory computer systems (both electronic and manual entry) as it relates to the delivery of laboratory services. Work directly with IT to improve processes and system changes

  • Maintain a high level of proficiency and current knowledge of trends in methodology, technology and delivery of laboratory services. Understand and communicate a technical strategy to align with AdventHealth Laboratory Services strategic plan and AdventHealth Health goals and objectives. Evaluate and implement new methodologies and procedures. Develop, maintain and manage metrics on testing performance. Conduct on-going assessments in conjunction with Medical Director, Technical Director, Best Practice Teams and Laboratory Site Directors of test menus and test methodologies to ensure that AdventHealth provides optimal service for patient care

  • Understand and use tools available to manage financial performance of AdventHealth Laboratory Services. Advise laboratory leadership of any changes needed in annual supply budgets. Review supply spend metrics periodically. Assist leadership in developing and implementing action plans on any unfavorable spending trends. Optimize processes for inventory management mechanisms including contract compliance in testing

  • Represent AdventHealth Laboratory Services in enterprise, hospital, and medical staff committee meetings as required. Consult with medical, nursing and administrative staff to coordinate and improve patient care as required. Handle and resolve customer complaints in a timely manner. Ensure integration of technical improvement initiatives with that of the hospital. Establish and maintain productive working relationships with other lab system leaders, lab directors, hospital divisions and medical staff. Develop and provide inservice training as needed and requested by various departments

  • Flexibility to work variable hours and ability to travel

Qualifications

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed : ( Taleo )

Minimum qualifications :

  • 5 years clinical laboratory experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in science field

  • MLT or MLS/MT, required

Preferred qualifications:

  • Previous experience leading complex programs with accountability for measured outcomes

  • 3 years leadership experience

  • Master’s degree in clinical laboratory science, Business, Healthcare Management or related field

  • Six sigma Green or Black Belt or other process improvement training

  • Certified Project Manager
