Work Hours/Shift:
Part Time

You Will Be Responsible For:
  • In collaboration with the staff RN, demonstrates an understanding of and shows an ability to use the nursing process.
  • Assists with admission history as needed.
  • Provides input to RN planning patient care.
  • Assists in evaluation of patient reaction and response to nursing care and reports any significant changes to the Charge RN.
  • Assists in implementing quality patient care.
  • Performs and documents daily patient care and documents in the EMR.
  • Fully explains to patient and family the procedure or care the patient will receive.
  • Carries out physician's orders promptly and accurately within the limitations of training and hospital policy.  Consults with Charge Nurse as appropriate. 
  • Directly gives care and/or assists RN with the more complex cares.
  • Functions as an active member of the healthcare system.
  • Answers nurse call system promptly and courteously.
  • Assists in orientation of new employees as directed.
  • Assists other staff in completion of their duties as time and assignments allows.
  • Assists in keeping med room and all utility rooms clean and well-stocked and orders supplies from CS as necessary.
  • Responds to all code blue and emergency situations.
  • Demonstrates ability to work and cooperate with other members of the healthcare team.
  • Assists with admission, discharge, and transfer of patients as needed.
  • Answers and documents ambulance calls.
  • Uses present paging system effectively.
  • Assists in general ward clerk duties including maintaining charts and general clerical duties as assigned.  Refer to unit clerk checklist. 
  • Knowledge of supplies and location so able to obtain them efficiently as needed.
  • Demonstrates a professional attitude.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all patient and hospital related information.
  • Respects patient privacy at all times.
  • Dresses neatly and in accordance with the present dress code.
  • Utilizes the appropriate chain of command.
  • Respects and supports co-workers, being sensitive to understaffed needs.
  • Conducts self in a professional manner.  Swearing, gossiping, loud conversations, etc., are not tolerated.
  • Contributes to a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
  • Utilizes siderails when deemed necessary and in good judgment.
  • Insures nurse call system is within patient reach and that patient understands how to use it.
  • Assists in keeping patient rooms orderly and hazard free.
  • Demonstrates proper technique when transferring and repositioning patients.
  • Knows and observes hospital and departmental safety, fire, and disaster policies and procedures.
  • Reports and documents incidents involving patients, staff, and visitors.
  • Reports broken and non-functional equipment to appropriate persons.
  • Is aware of and promotes the Fall Prevention Program. 
  • Recognizes job relationships and is willing to function effectively within organizational structure.
  • Performs in whichever capacity patient census and/or staffing level dictates within limits of training.
  • Recognizes legal responsibilities and demonstrates this knowledge by functioning within standards of practice and hospital policy.
  • Performs daily assignments utilizing the AHS SHARE principles. 
  • Responsible for professional growth.
  • Attends staff meetings and inservices to maintain a current knowledge of nursing practice (at least half of them in past year)
  • Demonstrates a willingness to learn new procedures.
  • Provides useful suggestions in problem areas.
  • Participates in Quality Improvement teams/projects when asked.
  • Uses available on-line lessons for education. 
You Must Have:
  • Graduate of an accredited Practical Nursing Program
  • Valid State of Wisconsin License
  • No Previous Experience Require
  • Wisconsin License Practical Nurse License
  • BCLS obtained through the American Heart Association

Job Summary:
Work under the direct supervision of an R.N., the L.P.N. is responsible for administering quality routine nursing care in Med/Surg, Recover Room and Emergency Room and other areas deemed appropriate by the Charge Nurse and or  Director of Nursing to provide quality patient care for those we serve
