AdventHealth Kissimmee seeks to hire a Breast Care RN who will embrace our mission to extend the healing ministry of Christ.
AdventHealth Kissimmee is a 163 bed community-focused hospital, conveniently located near Walt Disney World. The team here is dedicated to bringing mission-focused, faith-based care to residents and visitors of Osceola and Orange Counties. The RN is responsible for providing and supervising direct and indirect total nursing care responsibilities to identified age specific groups at the Women’s Center. Utilizes the nursing process in achieving the goals of the department. Assists the radiologist during breast biopsy procedures and provides care, documentation and follow up for the patient following the procedure. Follows up on all positive mammograms securing the proper Rx from physician and assisting the patient with obtaining further testing. Additional responsibilities include scheduling special procedures, maintaining, accessing and printing patient records assuring privacy following HIPAA guidelines. Adheres to the AdventHealth Corporate Compliance Plan and to all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state and agencies and accrediting bodies. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
Knowledge, Skills, Education, & Experience Required:
- Graduate of a school of nursing.
Licensure, Certification, or Registration Required:
Current valid State of Florida or multi state license as a Registered Nurse
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
ACLS, PALS, NRP (based on patient population) (Preferred)

Performs properly and legibly documents and reports all procedures and assessments in accordance with department policy.
Obtains or delegates the obtaining of a nursing history. Evaluates for age-appropriate behavior motor skills and physiological norms of the patient. Completes the admission assessment, including pain screening. Completes all follow-up assessments and evaluations. Assesses for signs of abuse or neglect.
Assesses and interprets diagnostic data relative to patient age and condition.
Identifies individualized plan of care. Identifies needs and develops/modifies plan of care.
Interprets and verifies physician orders correctly. Investigates questionable situations. Performs treatments and administers medications according to policy and procedure. Functions appropriately in clinical emergencies. Evaluates effectiveness of interventions and medications.
Evaluates patients’ developmental level, identifies increased physical/emotional dependency needs and evaluates availability of support system consistent with the age of the patient served.
Identifies the need for patient teaching and utilizes each opportunity for teaching on a planned or spontaneous basis.
Participates in practice changes as a result of performance improvement activities. Accurately documents and monitors activities as needed. Supports quality standards and initiatives set by the department.
Follows CDC isolation guidelines, demonstrates appropriate use of PPE, performs hand washing according to policy and enforces safety regulations.
Answers the phone using scripted greeting. Assists patients with scheduling of follow up exams – following an abnormal mammogram. Answers questions regarding the procedure and follow up. Assists with scheduling of core biopsies and needle localizations. Acquires patient’s previous films for needle localizations. When case is reviewed, schedules procedure with appropriate modality. Releases films to patients and /or doctor’s offices utilizing proper sign out forms. Prints patient records for release internally and externally and faxes paper records always adhering to HIPAA and/or established guidelines. Files film jackets promptly and accurately. [Records]
Performs other duties as assigned or directed to ensure the smooth operation of the department or unit.
