1 day shift Sunday through Tuesday 0530am to 0600pm
1 night shift Saturday through Monday 0530pm to 0600am

AdventHealth Lake Wales is a licensed 160-bed hospital, with 24-hour emergency care and outpatient services including imaging, rehab, lab and wound care, that has been serving the community and surrounding areas.

Lake Wales is located in Central Florida in between Orlando and Tampa and is home to the Historic Bok Tower Gardens and Bird Sanctuary.
The role you’ll contribute:
The Medical Laboratory Scientist II performs various laboratory procedures in assigned areas as licensed/certified. Work customarily involves analytical testing of blood and/or human biological specimens. Analytical laboratory testing generally requires a moderate to high degree of theoretical and practical knowledge and expertise in licensed area(s).
Depending on campus and department, various pre-and post-analytical work processes are included in the work duties customarily performed; on-call hours may also be required. Follows laboratory policies and procedures; maintains quality control practices in the Laboratory. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all

Technical skills and aptitudes related to the laboratory testing, procedures and processes performed in department or work area assigned
• Follows and ensures adherence of staff, to the Corporate Compliance Plan and to all rules and regulations of all
applicable local, state, and federal agencies and accrediting bodies; protects confidentiality of patient information and results at all times
• Ability to work independently and adapt to varying priorities, including directing workflow with minimal supervision
• Ability to maintain equipment/records and perform quality assessment activities
• Ability to educate and train new staff in medical laboratory settings
• Able to effectively communicate in verbal and written English with patients, staff, partners and customers of varied backgrounds in a respectful, effective, and professional manner
• Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office. Ability to operate computer systems in order to maintain patient documentation, testing records, and other related documents.
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
REQUIRED:
• Bachelor's degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory, chemical, physical, biological sciences or related
field
PREFERRED:
• Two years of technical experience
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:
· American Medical Technologists
· American Society for Clinical Pathology
· Medical Lab Technologist
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION:
REQUIRED:
• In licensure states, Laboratory Licensure in appropriate specialty(ies) for the department or location assignment as applicable to the state
-OR -
• In non-licensure states, must hold a national certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medical
Technologist such as ASCP, AAB, or AMT unless grandfathered per state requirement
