We are currently seeking qualified candidates for a Chief Nursing Officer/Chief Operations Officer(CNO/COO) for AdventHealth Lake Wales, Florida.

GENERAL SUMMARY :

The CNO/COO at AdventHealth Lake Wales provides administrative oversight and has comprehensive responsibility for directing clinical and non-clinical departments. Is accountable for strategic planning, translation of business tactics and deployment. Demonstrates exceptional and consistent performance of hospital and non-hospital-based metrics and outcomes.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the CNO/COO has a matrix reporting relationship to AdventHealth system Chief Clinical Officer. The CNO/COO is the campus executive with clinical and operational responsibilities, a leader in the Polk market to ensure business decisions are based on the market needs and AdventHealth Institute collaboration, and a member of the Polk leadership team which sets clinical and patient experience priorities. Is accountable for cascading communication and collaboration to maintain continuity of clinical practice, standards, fiscal management, resource utilization, policy and procedures. Utilizes knowledge of current trends and practices to facilitate process improvement and implementation of organizational goals.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES :

Keeps the organization’s mission, vision and values at the forefront of decision making and action. Exercises leadership ability, accepts responsibility, exercises authority, and functions independently using effective written and verbal communication.

Compliance/Regulatory Responsibility:

  • Promotes a safe environment for all stakeholders at AdventHealth.

  • Creates and revises policies and standard operating procedures that are evidenced based and meets professional standards of care.

  • Ensures adherence to appropriate regulatory standards

Business and Fiscal Performance:

  • Obtains information and identifies key issues and relationships relevant to achieving short and long range goals.

  • Develops, implements, and monitors hospital wide budget. Manages financial resources.

  • Utilizes industry-based information systems for planning and decision making related to patient care processes and services lines

  • Assists in service line proformas, capital equipment planning, and supply chain management.

Performance Improvement Responsibility:

  • Monitors clinical and operational performance indicators and develops action plans to meet established goals.

  • Acts as a change agent, utilizing change management theory to plan for the implementation of organizational change, supports staff during the change,

  • Promotes collaborative and interdisciplinary processes that focus on safety, best practice outcomes for patients and staff across the continuum of care.

  • Analyzes and evaluates nursing/business units to improve quality of patient care and utilization of staff.

  • Includes nurse sensitive research indicators that demonstrate effectiveness of nursing care. Incorporates findings into clinical practice across continuum.

Communication and Relationship Building:

  • Demonstrates leadership skills through timely, appropriate decisions and organizational ability with appropriate priority setting.

  • Establishes mechanisms for communications and collaboration with staff and all hospital disciplines. Maintains strong interface with Medical Staff leadership and staff physicians.

  • Provides collaborative leadership in providing exceptional patient experience and outcomes

  • Effectively communicates with patients, families, employees, physicians and other department leaders.

  • Develops strategic relationships in the community including healthcare industry and academia.

Human Resources and Employee Engagement:

  • Provides feedback, instructions, and developmental guidance to help others excel in their current or future job responsibilities.

  • Allocates decision making authority and or task responsibility to appropriate levels of leadership to maximize the organizations and individual’s effectiveness.

  • Creates an environment in which others are setting expectations and holding each other accountable; professional and personal growth is an expectation.

  • Identifies and eliminates sexual harassment, workplace violence, and verbal/physical abuse. Implements programs to enhance work-life balance.

  • Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility for being a role model in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND LICENSURE REQUIRED :

  • BSN and appropriate master’s degree

  • Ten (10) years of experience in nursing

  • Five (5) years of clinical management

  • Current registration with Florida State Board of Nursing as a registered professional nurse or licensure from another state with verification of application and eligibility for Florida licensure endorsement

Education, Experience and Licensure Preferred :

  • Doctoral degree recommended

  • National certification in nursing administration
