Full Time, Evening
You Will Be Responsible For:
Inspects, cleans, services, troubleshoots, diagnoses malfunctions, disassembles, replaces parts, repairs defective parts, reassembles, adjusts, tests and otherwise maintains a wide variety of cooling, refrigeration, freezing and air conditioning machinery equipment.
Installs, insures proper refrigeration charge, adjusts, and operates a wide variety of refrigeration, ice machines, and air conditioning machinery and equipment throughout the hospital following industry standard practices and procedures.
Performs periodic inspections, observing temperatures, pressures, flows, and chemical concentrations and records readings in appropriate logs.
Makes periodic adjustments to equipment to maintain required operating temperatures and pressures.
Performs preventive maintenance as scheduled on air conditioning and refrigeration equipment, chillers, pumps, cooling towers, and cleaning of condensers.
Periodically checks and recharges refrigerant systems (locating leaks and making repairs) to ensure proper operation of a wide variety of cooling equipment.
Sets-up and operates a wide variety of mechanical equipment, including oxyacetylene welding equipment.
What You Will Need:
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
Must be able to recover, clean, and reuse Freon of all types (R-11, R-12, R-22,R-123, etc.).
Working knowledge of all HVAC test equipment including airflow instruments.
The ability to read and interpret blueprints.
Most work is unique, HVAC equipment repairs range from troubleshooting a refrigerator to changing a compressor, to redesigning an existing AHU and installing new controls. Other tasks include replacing coils in Air Handlers. Decisions are frequently required to determine how a piece of equipment can or should be repaired for which guidelines do not exist.
Ability to work efficiently under pressure and stress.
Exhibits initiative and skill in identifying and settling problems related.
Frequently communicates with patients, staff, and contractors regarding needs, scheduling, etc. Good consistent communication concerning work schedules and customers needs, frequently determines the success or failure of the department’s activities.
Demands discretion and tact to create positive impressions and maintain good will with employees, physicians, staff, and outside business contacts.
Must be able to communicate well, explaining standard operating procedures of HVAC systems.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
High school diploma
Equivalent experience and/or education such as a 2 year vocational or trade school may be substituted.
Five (5) years experience in refrigeration, chiller, heating, and ventilation and air conditioning systems in a commercial or industrial setting.
2 years of building control systems experience preferably Siemens Controls.
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:
A Class “A” or Mechanical License required. Equivalent experience and/or education such as a 2 year vocational or trade school may be substituted.
EPA Universal Licenses for Freon recovery required. Must be able to recover, clean, and reuse Freon of all types (R-11, R-12, R-22,R-123, etc.).
Must possess and maintain a valid State of Florida driver's license.
HVAC master mechanic must be able to work on all HVAC equipment to include but not limited to; chillers, cooling towers, energy management systems, ice machines, exhaust fans. Must be able to replace motors and compressors of all sizes on air conditioning and refrigerant systems. Troubleshoot and repair pneumatic and DDC control systems. Must be able to use test equipment, read schematics, use Freon recovery units, braze, and silver solder. Periodically requires working after hours, working different shifts, and on call.
