You Will Be Responsible For:
Verifies the patient order.
Properly uses the scanner for positive patient identification 100% of the time. Accurately identifies the patient using two hospital approved patient identifiers, name and DOB.
Properly labels all specimens with the correct patient label at the patients bedside to assure accuracy of results.
Accurately accessions in all specimens within the specified time frame from downloaders on the nursing units/departments.
Places patient sample in the appropriate department for processing.
Answers all pages/spectra link phones within 4 rings. If with a patient will call the accession room immediately when free.
Demonstrates the ability to perform PKU and heal sticks meeting the requirements of the state of Florida guidelines and without rejection.
Demonstrates the ability to perform blood cultures without reported contamination. Sends cultures to lab within 1 hour.
What You Will Need:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Phlebotomist-one to six months training.
AHA BLS-Certified; National Phlebotomy Technician Certification preferred
