You Will Be Responsible For:

  • Verifies the patient order.

  • Properly uses the scanner for positive patient identification 100% of the time. Accurately identifies the patient using two hospital approved patient identifiers, name and DOB.

  • Properly labels all specimens with the correct patient label at the patients bedside to assure accuracy of results.

  • Accurately accessions in all specimens within the specified time frame from downloaders on the nursing units/departments.

  • Places patient sample in the appropriate department for processing.

  • Answers all pages/spectra link phones within 4 rings. If with a patient will call the accession room immediately when free.

  • Demonstrates the ability to perform PKU and heal sticks meeting the requirements of the state of Florida guidelines and without rejection.

  • Demonstrates the ability to perform blood cultures without reported contamination. Sends cultures to lab within 1 hour.


What You Will Need:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Phlebotomist-one to six months training.

  • AHA BLS-Certified; National Phlebotomy Technician Certification preferred
