Work Hours/Shift:

Full Time, Day

You Will Be Responsible For:

  • Interviews patients or family members prior to procedure date to gather demographic and insurance information; including patient address, next of kin, guarantor, religion, e-mail address, insurance companies and plans.

  • Ensures Insurance Requirements; including verification of benefits, authorization requirements and notification requirements are met prior to patients scheduled arrival.

  • Obtains precertification and/or authorizations required for the scheduled services on behalf of the physician’s offices enrolled in the Pre-Certification program.

  • Request any documentation necessary to complete authorization process from the physician’s office.

  • Notifies physician’s office, pre-registration and/or patient of denial of services timely.

  • Knowledge of on-line verification and authorization systems including but not limited to Availity, WebMD, UnitedHealthCare, etc.


What You Will Need:


  • Must be able to Read, Write and Type.

  • Must be able to use a desktop computer with basic knowledge of Word and Excel.

  • Must have good Customer Service skills and be able to communicate with patients in a clear voice.

  • Works in close proximity to others and/or in a distracting environment.


  • Requires a high school diploma or GED.

  • 6 months previous related experience preferred.

Job Summary:

Pre-Access Representative, under the direct supervision of the Pre-Access Coordinator, ensures patients are pre-registered including: demographic information obtained, insurance verification and authorizations are completed prior to the patient’s arrival. The Pre-Access Representative will need to maintain knowledge of outpatient procedures, surgical procedures and insurance requirements to ensure an appropriate registration process. They are required to maintain a working knowledge of all Managed Care Contracts as well as insurance requirements for authorizations, notifications or referrals.
