What you will need:
- Master's degree in Social Work
- Two years of experience in clinical counseling, including oncology, hematology, palliative and end-of-life issues.
- Current licensure in social work as required by the State of Florida, strongly preferred (if not currently licensed, must be license eligible and currently pursuing licensure).
- Maintains membership in related professional organizations, such as NASW, AOSW and FSOSW.
The Oncology Social Worker provides oncology social work interventions in the outpatient oncology setting with cancer patients, caregivers and family members throughout the treatment continuum and survivorship. The Oncology Social Worker has specialized training in comprehensive cancer care and mental health and is skilled in the ability to help people living with cancer improve their quality of life, manage distress, cope effectively, develop strategies, utilize community resources and find hope. The Oncology Social Worker works in a multidisciplinary team with physicians and other healthcare team members, in determining patient’s medical status, treatment plan and prognosis as they relate to and effect psychosocial care, long-term care, palliative and end-of-life planning. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
