The role you’ll contribute:
Under the direction of the Lead Auto Mechanic, the Auto Mechanic performs routine repair, preventative maintenance and emergency repairs on all hospital-owned vehicles. Duties may include the transportation of hazardous waste as well as the delivery of hospital vehicles to campuses and vendors. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
The value you’ll bring to the team:
Troubleshoots electrical and hydraulic problems, utilizing a variety of diagnostic instruments and a variety of hand, electric and air-driven tools.
Performs service repairs, tune-ups and DOT inspections on all hospital vehicles, ensuring state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards. Verifies vehicle serviceability by conducting test drives; adjusting controls and systems.
Repairs brake, engine, electrical, fuel, hydraulic, transmission, ignition, air, exhaust, axle, steering, HVAC, suspension assemblies, and related systems.
Job duties may include the transportation of hazardous waste from the point of generation to a designated secure storage area. Employee will be required to complete initial training (prior to handling hazardous waste) and refresher training to include proper handling and transport of hazardous waste, and proper selection, use and disposal of personal protective equipment.
Completes assigned work in a professional and timely manner, documenting appropriately and following all FH standards
Qualifications
The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed :
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
· Working knowledge of automotive mechanics, gas and diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, fire pumps and valves, generators, and a/c systems.
· Solid ability to evaluate and repair mechanical and electrical system malfunctions, replacing parts and components and verify vehicles are in good working condition.
· Able to communicate in English
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
· Minimum of 5 years automotive maintenance experience
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:
· Valid Florida Class E Driver’s License and driving record in accordance with AdventHealth policy
