The role you’ll contribute:

The Court Liaison is responsible for coordinating and processing all legal aspects of patients undergoing involuntary treatment in accordance with the Florida State Baker Act laws and provides clinical support to the Social Services Department. Acts as a liaison to the Mental Health Division of the Circuit Court and the Florida State Hospital system. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

  • Responsible for achieving and maintaining year-round Patient Experience scores in the 75 th percentile or as determined by Hospital Leadership.

  • Monitors and processes all legal forms daily of patients undergoing involuntary treatment in accordance with the Florida Baker Act Law.

  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of Baker Act laws governing inpatient treatment and ensures compliance within the Center for Behavioral Health.

  • Coordinates and participates in weekly meetings within the community regarding Baker Act involuntary patients, including Mental Health Court and State Hospital Screening Committee.

  • Acts as liaison to patients’ court ordered to the Florida State Hospital system, ensuring completion of legal forms, medical records and transportation.

  • Maintains daily reports and court dockets on involuntary patients.

  • Participates in staff development in training of Baker Act law and the involuntary process to Center for Behavioral Health staff.

  • Attends weekly meetings with the Center for Behavioral Health Operations Manager or designee to review and discuss any concerns regarding patient care.

  • Provides clinical support to the Social Services department through obtaining psychosocial histories and assisting with discharge planning efforts.

Qualifications

The expertise and experiences you'll need to succeed:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED :

  • Experience working with psychiatric patients

  • Experience working with Florida Baker Act Law and interfacing with legal system

  • Bachelor’s in Social Work or other healthcare field
