The role you’ll contribute:

The Development Sr Specialist plans and carries out Identify, Engage and Cultivation activities, so as to maintain and develop the donation of funds and gifts for AdventHealth (AH) programs. The position focuses on hospital visits, initial telephone calls to secure appointments, and Identify and “Engage Stage Core Process” prospect meetings. This position prepares moves plans and coordinates Cultivation and Solicitation Stage activities for gifts targeted at less than $100,000 (total team may be responsible for a larger metric, however this position acts as a closer for gifts targeted at less than $100,000; as a team member, remains responsible to assist in raising the goal set). This will be in accordance with specified annual fundraising goals set forth by the AH Foundation. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed :

Minimum Qualifications:

( EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

· Bachelor’s degree in Non-Profit Management, Healthcare Administration, Sales and Marketing, Business Administration, communications, social science, or related field, OR Five (5) years’ experience as a Development Officer in a regional or national organization with an active major gifts program that is part of an overall development effort,

· Experience in major gifting, with a track record of raising greater than $500,000 in a twelve-month period.

· Experience in capital or “special campaigns,” with a track record of raising $500,000 in a twelve-month period.

· Experience in volunteer or professional fundraising.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

· Ability and desire to share the mission of AH throughout the community, which is to Extend the Healing Ministry of Christ.

· Ability to communicate and motivate, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

· Understanding of the principles of donor marketing and fundraising cost-effectiveness, including donor targeting, donor giving opportunity development, organizational need and solutions-based selling, and expense to profit ratio.

· In-depth knowledge of the Central Florida Region, corporate and civic community, or a proven track record of successful territory development in a major market.

· Self-starter with the initiative to manage up to 120 major gift prospects and donors, and coordinate with other Foundation managers to ensure total coverage of the donor/prospect base.

· Appreciation for the need for consistency within AH’s branding and marketing mix.

· Currently have or be willing to build an established network of community and business relationships.

· Adept in use of MS Office products, particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook, and ideally familiar with fundraising and donor prospect software, such as Raiser’s Edge.

· Self-driven, results-oriented with a positive outlook and a clear focus on high quality major gift solicitation.

· Natural forward planner, able to critically assess own performance.

· Mature, credible, and comfortable in dealing with senior managers, company executives, board members and grateful patients.

· Reliable, tolerant, and determined.

· Empathetic communicator, with ability to see things from the other person’s point of view.

· Well-presented and businesslike.

· Sufficiently mobile and flexible to travel within the Central Florida area.

· Open to new experiences, responsibilities and accountabilities.

· Ability to get along well with others and to be a team-player.

Preferred Qualifications:

· Certified Fund-Raising Executive (CFRE)

· Four (4) years as a Development Officer at AH or another hospital system

· Master’s degree in Non-Profit Management, Healthcare Administration, Sales and Marketing, Business Administration, communications, social science, or related field

· Three (3) years’ experience in beneficiary fundraising area of focus (Children’s, Cancer, Cardio, Diabetes, etc.)

· Ability to speak and write in additional languages.

· Passion for beneficiary via volunteer work.

· Experience in hospital fundraising

· Experience with capital campaigns

The value you’ll bring to the team:

· Follow the Foundation’s “Major Gift Core Process” to Identify, Engage, Cultivate, Solicit and Steward a donor portfolio that includes, individuals (major gift donors and grateful patients), corporations, physicians, staff, and administrators.

· Focus on “Core Process” and soliciting gifts of $25,000 to $500,000 independently. Seek guidance from VP level supervisor in developing solicitation strategy. Model “Core Process” for Development Coordinator and Development Specialist levels.

· Meet or exceed visit metrics of 6 to 10 meetings per week, 24-40 meetings per month, and 240-400 meetings (NO chance encounters) per year to help achieve the Major Gift fundraising goal for the beneficiary.

· Use the “Major Gifts Core Process” to manage a portfolio of 120 or more prospects and solicit 20- 24 Major Gifts per year to meet fundraising goals of $500,000 annually, (minimum of $25,000 for multi-year pledges), to be created and managed in Raiser’s Edge through Proposal module. Bequest/Planned Gift options will be explored with all Major Gifts Donors of age 55 and above as part of the process.

· Ensure monthly solicitations by creating a balanced portfolio with sufficient prospects at the Identify, Engage, Cultivate, Solicit and Stewardship stages of the Core Process to achieve solicitation goals over a multi-year period. Increase by 10% year over year number of NEW prospects added to beneficiary pipeline (3YR Rolling AVG).

· Manage Board/Administrator meetings to communicate a clear message that is compelling and aligned with the Mission/Vision of the beneficiary/Hospital priorities by engaging Hospital Leadership, Physicians, Nurses, Board Members and volunteers.

· Document all visits, solicits and moves within the “Core Process” in Raiser’s Edge for monthly reporting and tracking.

· Participate in active Pipeline Development activities that help engage potential donors in the life of the organization and will ensure growing a strong portfolio and a long term, sustainable pipeline of potential donors. These include but are not limited to: Board Member Referrals, Existing Donor Referrals, Professional Advisor Referrals, Point of Entry, AH Foundation Events (Gala and Golf), Planned Giving Forums, Administrator Presentations, Meet the Physician Events, Grateful Patient Events and Grateful Patient Leads from Donor Relations.

· Work with the Gen Champions (Formerly 1908 Employee Giving) and Annual Fund staff to grow participation rates for both programs in respective beneficiary/ies to fund defined priorities using tools, such as Social Media Platform as well as other Annual Fund techniques to drive giving to the beneficiary.

· Manage Board / Administrator meetings to communicate a clear message that is compelling and aligned with the Mission/Vision of the beneficiary/Hospital priorities by engaging Hospital Leadership, Physicians, Nurses, Board Members and volunteers.

· Maintain most current knowledge and skills relevant to the fundraising profession.

· Other duties as assigned.
