You Will Be Responsible For:

  • Manages staffing, hiring, coaching & scheduling of phlebotomists.
  • Ensures Customer Experience meets the campus expectations/goals.
  • Responsible for support staff
  • Oversees and is responsible for send outs of the department (reference lab work).
  • Manages, assigns, oversees, and occasionally performs pre-analytical activities related to laboratory testing, which may include general equipment maintenance, function checks and documentation; inventory control and supply stocking; blood specimen collection to include phlebotomy and skin puncture for all age groups; biological specimen processing; cleaning and disinfection of selected or assigned laboratory equipment and spaces; and other pre-analytical activities.
  • Manages, assigns, oversees and occasionally performs post-analytical activities related to laboratory testing. Continually oversees and ensures department workspaces are maintained in a neat, organized, and properly supplied manner; properly stores documentation, and specimens as appropriate.
  • Actively participates in laboratory and hospital Performance Improvement activities, including resolution of customer services issues, evaluation of new equipment and/or procedures or methods.
 


Qualifications
What You Will Need:
  • Associate degree or 2 years post-secondary education in Management/Business or Health related fields. 
  • Three (3) years’ experience in a Laboratory
  • One (1) year management experience in the Laboratory
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Management/Business or Health related fields (Preferred)
  • Two (2) years’ experience in leadership role in a Clinical Laboratory (Preferred)
  • Nationally certified as a Laboratory Professional (Phlebotomist, Medical Laboratory Assistant, Medical Laboratory Technician, Medical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Technologist, Histotechnician, Histotechnologist, and/or Cytotechnologist or equivalent) (Preferred)
Job Summary:
 

The Laboratory Support Manager of Acute Care Services (ACS) manages Phlebotomy and Support Services for the campus laboratory. Manages, designs, assigns and supports staff  in all aspects of lab support activities which may include: phlebotomy, specimen processing, outreach drop off, registration and ordering, and outpatient areas.
