Located on a lush tropical campus, our flagship hospital, 1,107-bed AdventHealth Orlando, serves as the major tertiary facility for much of the Southeast, the Caribbean and South America. AdventHealth Orlando houses one of the largest Emergency Departments and largest cardiac catheterization labs in the country. Job Summary:

The Clinical Educator for Medical Staff Services is responsible for facilitating special medical staff projects, identifying education needs of medical staff/allied health professionals, and identifying and reducing risk to Florida Hospital and Florida Hospital Medical Groups. Assists the medical staff/allied health professionals through facilitating quality improvement projects, general orientation, medical staff inservices for identified eduational needs and/or new medical product(s) implementation, and patient safety initiatives. Works in collaboration with the Graduate Medical Education department in identifying and developing educational opportunities for physicians and residents. Develops improvement goals and programs in partnership with medical staff leadership. Identifies opportunities to improve patient outcomes, safety, and quality, and actively supports the elements of extending excellence. Works in collaboration with Risk Management and Peer Review department in identifying and reducing risk with our medical staff in compliance with FL State Statute 395.0197. Has knowledge of Florida Hospital's Patient Safety Evaluation System and Patient Safety Work Product. Follows the Corporate Compliance Plan and applies the rules and regulations of applicable local, state and federal agencies and accrediting bodies. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

Knowledge, Skills, Education, & Experience Required:

  • Self-directed and creative; has initiative to develop quality improvement and physician directed clinical educational programs

  • Ability to accept responsibility and work independently, under pressure, to prioritize a diverse workload and meet deadlines

  • Manages special Medical Staff projects independently in collaboration with the Florida Hospital medical staff leaders, medical staff director, and senior leadership

  • Leadership skills

  • Strong knowledge of accreditation and regulatory requirements necessary to maintain compliance

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing

  • Five years of clinical experience

  • Master of Science degree in Nursing or master’s degree in related field (Preferred)

Licensure, Certification, or Registration Required:

  • Current valid State of Florida or multi state license as a Registered Nurse

  • Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) (Preferred)

  • Disseminates pertinent information to the medical staff. Manages time and resources effectively to assure tasks are completed in the most efficient and cost effective manner and is able to manage multiple priorities. GME, Clinical resource to Medical Staff members and team; privileges etc., Medical Staff resource for Peer Review, MIS educational needs; CPOE, fhcme.com, etc.

  • Facilitates special investigative reviews, including development of Non-Patient Safety Work Product

  • Participates in multiple committees to identify the educational/process improvement needs of Florida Hospital Medical Staff, allied health professionals, and residents.

  • Plans, implements, and evaluates educational programs in response to patient safety trends as evidenced by Peer Review common cause analysis of event findings, organizational goals and initiatives, learning needs, evidenced based literature and health care trends. Collaborates with medical, nursing, and continuing education team regarding emerging clinical educational trends. Works in collaboration with Medical Staff leadership, Risk Management, and Peer Review to develop annual medical staff education plans.

  • Assists medical staff and allied health professionals with individual educational plan completion when educational opportunity action requirement is identified through the formal peer review process, as requested.

  • Provides education to medical staff and allied health professionals related to accreditation and regulatory requirements.

  • Assists in orientation, educational programming, and leadership training of physicians and allied health professionals. Individualizes, plans, implements, and evaluates new medical staff and allied health professionals’ orientation process and assists with unit medical director orientation and education. Updates all educational manuals, as necessary.

  • Manages support staff as assigned completing and conducting annual evaluations as necessary.

  • Contributes to the research process, serves as Continuing Medical Education (CME) Committee member, and evaluates integration of CME with quality improvement and physician professional practice. Provides learning opportunities which enable physicians to utilize research findings in practice promoting patient safety and quality improvement.

  • Utilizes knowledge of Florida Hospital’s Patient Safety Evaluation System. Maintains confidentiality of Patient Safety Work Product in compliance with the Florida Hospital Patient Safety Evaluation System.
