Pediatric Orthopedic Surgery Department at Orlando has a great opportunity for

a certified Physician Assistant (PA-C) or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse

(APRN) with first assist certification to join a growing practice. The role

involves orthopedic management of patients ranging from newborn to early

adulthood. This individual would work in outpatient and inpatient settings as

well as assist in surgery.

Walt Disney Pavilion at AdventHealth for Children (formerly

Florida Hospital for Children) is a full service, tertiary children’s hospital

with over 200 dedicated pediatric beds including a 22 bed PICU, 10 bed Cardiac

ICU, 102 bed NICU, 17 bed pediatric emergency department and statewide

pediatric network and transport system. Our unparalleled network consists

of 27 hospitals across the state with Walt Disney Pavilion at the center and

several extremely successful pediatric subspecialty programs including outreach

clinics.

GeneralSummary:

The APP, under the supervision of the Physicians is responsible

for:

  • Performing historiesand physical exams on pediatric orthopedic patients in both the office and hospital.

  • Handlingdaily patient rounds, patient education and discharge summaries

  • First assisting in the Operating Room

  • Other procedures which include but are not limited to: Jointinjections, aspirations, cast application, dressing changes, fracture reduction

  • Ordering and interpretingappropriate diagnostic tests, such as laboratory, X-ray, MRI, etc.

  • Assisting patient and family with pre- and post-proceduraleducation

  • Monitoring the patient’s course oftreatment and places orders for referral to the appropriate specialist.

  • Collaborating with physician andstaff to provide consistent care to both the parents and the patients.

  • Main Outpatient office location: Orlando

  • Satellite offices: Daytona and Winter Garden

  • Hospitals covered: Orlando and Winter Garden

  • Call rotation is 1 in 4

Knowledgeand Skills Required:

  • Abilityto establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, officestaff, patients, parents and hospital medical staff

  • Desireto become part of a multi-disciplinary program

  • Someevening and weekend on-call/rounding will be required

Educationand Experience:

  • Master’s degree in nursing or Physician Assistant Studies

  • Experience with pediatric orthopedics

  • First assist surgical experience

Licensure,Certification, and Registration:

  • Current, valid Florida PA-C license (or eligible); APRN with 1 st

assist certification

  • Certification through NCCPA or other nationally recognized certification

body
