AdventHealth East Orlando seeks to hire a Registered Nurse

who will embrace our mission to extend the healing ministry of Christ.

Facility Profile:

AdventHealth East Orlando, a 293-bed

full service community hospital that serves as one of AdventHealth’s seven

satellite facilities, became part of the AdventHealth system in 1990. At

AdventHealth East Orlando, we strive to improve our patients’ quality of life

through a holistic approach to health care — mind, body and spirit — while

remaining at the forefront of medical innovation. During the past ten years,

we’ve invested more than $122 million in facility improvements to serve the

growing community. Among the recent additions and openings, we have an expanded

emergency room, a center for Medical Simulation and Education, a Children’s

Emergency Center, a Renovated Cancer Institute, and a new 40-bed inpatient

nursing unit. The hospital is also home to the AdventHealth Orthopaedic

Institute at East Orlando as well as a comprehensive urology program.

Job Summary:

The Registered Professional Nurse

(RN) is responsible for providing and supervising direct and indirect total

nursing care responsibilities to identified age specific groups. Utilizes the

nursing process (assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating) in achieving

the goals of the nursing department. Adheres to the AdventHealth Corporate

Compliance Plan and to all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state

and federal agencies and accrediting bodies. Actively participates in

outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining

relationships that are equally respectful to all.

Knowledge, Skills, Education, &Experience Required:

  • Organizational and multi-tasking skills

  • Knowledge of nursing care methods and procedures

  • Ability to work as a Team player within a unit

  • Effective verbal and oral communication andproblem-solving skills

  • EKG (based on patient population; see document EKG andAdvanced Life Support Requirements)

  • Graduate of a school of nursing

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (Preferred)

Licensure, Certification, orRegistration Required:

  • Current valid State of Florida or multi state licenseas a Registered Nurse

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

  • Advanced life support certification (ACLS, PALS, NRP)per specialty/unit requirements

  • Professional certification (Preferred)

  • ACLS, PALS, NRP (based on patient population; Seedocument EKG and Advanced Life Support Requirements) (Preferred)

  • NURSING PROCESS: Completes timely assessments perPractice Guidelines including physiological, psychological, developmental,sociocultural, spiritual, and life-style factors, including signs of abuseor neglect. Makes appropriate decisions and interventions and nursingdiagnosis according to patients actual or potential health conditions orneeds. (American Nurses Association [ANA], 2012)

  • NURSING PROCESS: Based on the assessment and diagnosis,sets measurable and achievable short and long-range goals for the patient(ANA, 2012), assisting in the development and implementation of anindividualized plan of care. Prioritizes and completes follow upassessments, evaluates and modifies plan of care as needed. Nursingpractice reflects mutual goal setting and whole person care includingmeeting the needs of the mind, body and spirit. (King, 1995)

  • NURSING KNOWLEDGE: Demonstrates the ability to assessand interpret diagnostic data relative to patient age and condition,including, but not limited to lab results, non-invasive monitoring dataand interdisciplinary team notes. Nursing practice reflects theapplication of knowledge and skills pertaining to all diagnoses,procedures, medications, complications, and equipment associated with unitpatient population.

  • PATIENT SAFETY: Nursing practice reflects theapplication of knowledge, skill and adherence to all pertinent regulatorystandards. Follows strict infection prevention precautions. Adheres topolicy and procedure regarding all aspects of medication safety. Practicereflects importance of patient teaching and takes advantage ofopportunities, both planned and unplanned, to carry it out in accordancewith plan of care.

  • COMMUNICATION: Promotes an exceptional patientexperience by abiding to compassion and image standards and fosteringexcellent nurse-patient relationships through effective/therapeuticcommunication with the patient, family, and visitors, including but notlimited to and as applicable, hourly rounding. Exhibits ability to utilizeappropriate techniques, verbiage, and resources in all interactions withthe patient to their level of understanding. Communicates effectively withinterdisciplinary team by completing thorough hand off communication inall situations. Follows chain of command when appropriate.

  • DOCUMENTATION: Demonstrates knowledge and skill in therecording and accessing of all patient information in electronic medicalrecord according to policy and in real time. Performs appropriate andlegible documentation, recording all procedures and assessments withinestablished timeframes, and in accordance with standards of care,departmental policy and practice guidelines.

  • PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT: Abides by American NursesAssociation Scope, Standards and Code of Ethics. Participates in practicechanges, process improvement initiatives and completes all requirededucation by the due date. Supports quality standards and initiatives setby the department. Exhibits desire to learn, teach, mentor and advancenursing skills.

  • RELIEF CHARGE NURSE (as applicable): Under thesupervision of a manager, assumes authority of the daily operations of theunit/department and is the primary resource nurse for a specific shift.Manages staff accountability and adherence to regulatory requirements. Theleadership responsibility includes but is not limited to facilitation ofthe team dynamics of patient care, patient experience and patient flowincluding managing staff assignments. Additional managementresponsibilities include effective conflict resolution, patient/staffrounding and communication, resource utilization, comprehensive hand offcommunication and completion of unit specific audits/checklists asrequired or assigned.

  • May perform waived and/or non-waived Point of CareTesting. If performing non-waived Point of Care Testing, as defined inAHCA rule 59A-7.034, must have approved competency and documented proof(copy of either diploma or transcript, at the highest level of academicachievement) at the time of AdventHealth non-waived Point of Caretraining.
