Unit Description:
Our Vascular Thoracic PCU/ICU unit provides boundless opportunities to learn and grow with a caring specialized trained team. Our Surgical critical care unit is a 40-bed unique unit consisting of 20 dedicated progressive care beds, and 20 dedicated intensive care beds in which provides great learning potential for those that want to continue their clinical development and make the transition from PCU to ICU.
Our Progressive care beds primarily serve patients recovering from vascular or general surgery while our Intensive care beds serve critically ill patients that have had a vascular surgery, general abdominal surgery, or an abdominal organ transplant. Our physicians love to teach and are highly engaged with the team!
Our unit provides care to both pre-op and post-op vascular surgeries such as fem-pop bypasses, carotid endarterectomies, abdominal aortic aneurism repairs, and amputations. We also provide care to patients requiring general surgery.
We proudly specialize in recovering Liver Transplant patients. As of January 2019, we are proud to announce that we are ranked #1 in the USA for liver patient survival outcomes!
Beacon Awarded Unit
Patient care model: Registered Nurses & Patient Care technicians/Nurse Technicians
Ratios: ICU 1-2 patients per 1 RN based on acuity, PCU 4-5 patients per 1 RN based on acuity, and 10 patients per Nurse Technician based on acuity
The role you’ll contribute:
The Registered Nurse entering a training program is responsible for providing and supervising direct and indirect total nursing care responsibilities to identified age-specific groups. Utilizes the nursing process (assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating) in achieving the goals of the nursing department. Graduate nurses and experienced nurses entering a training program will be under the direct supervision of a preceptor for all principal duties and responsibilities during the training program with eventual transition to independent practice after successful training program completion. Adheres to the AdventHealth Corporate Compliance Plan and to rules and regulations of all applicable local, state and federal agencies and accrediting bodies. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
Terms: 24 month FT Employment Contract Required for Sign-on

Applicable experience required.
Internal Candidates and Rehires within 12 months are not eligible.
Qualifications - External
The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:
Minimum qualifications :
Graduate of a school of nursing
Minimum of six (6) months of experience
Current valid State of Florida or multistate license as a Registered Nurse
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
EKG competency testing
Preferred qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience
Professional Certification
