You Will Be Responsible For:
Demonstrates, through behavior, AdventHealth’s core values of Integrity, Compassion, Balance, Excellence, Stewardship and Teamwork.
As a safety leader and with technological savvy, directly responsible for driving the execution and sustainment initiatives for LENS boards and unit culture programs. This includes collaboration with corporate unit culture team and the facility C- Suite. Directly collaborates, through influence, to the numerous Nurse Managers, mid-level leaders, to coach and train as the expert in Unit Culture.
Develops and maintains strong collegial partnerships to resolve conflict with unit managers for nursing and ancillary departments at the campus to understand unit dynamics of safety culture, to influence, coach, and support the team through implementation of high-reliability initiatives in collaboration with safety and high reliability director and campus leadership.
Leads campus collaboration with AdventHealth’s internal consulting services team to support departments identified by operations and clinical senior leaders to solve complex team and operational dynamics. Directly consults with senior physicians and staff with difficult conversations and professional initiatives. Works closely with the campus Chief Medical Officer.
Develops and maintains collegial relationships and Collaborates with Risk Management, Compliance and Regulatory areas and Performance Improvement staff to identify and mitigate areas of high risk and develop integrated prevention practices to improve patient, employee, physician, and visitor safety by driving down preventable harm.
Develops, implements, and ensures alignment with campus and system key performance indicators and measures, to monitor quality and safety improvements, including other regulatory metrics as identified.
Leads execution of Patient Safety Walk Rounds strategy and analyzes and reports results at campus and system PI councils, including the campus Patient Safety and Quality Committee.
Recommends and facilitates performance improvement (PI) activities related to safety.
In cases where patient safety potentially is comprised, or risk is unknown, the Safe Reliable Care Sr. Manager has the authority to issue a “stop work” (hold the line) to cease use of equipment, specific clinical practices, or limit the activities of specific healthcare workers, until resolution of concerns is adequately reached.
Drives the conduct of proactive risk & hazard assessments to prevent system failures including Failure Modes and Effects Analysis and self-assessments through use of trigger, observation, and risk assessment tools. Participates in any Sentinel Event identified at their campus.
Drives innovation by creating an environment that creates learning systems that identifies defects and fixes them.
Manages the recruitment, retention, training, and competence of staff and analysts. Ensures the accuracy, timeliness, reliability, frequency, level-of-detail of staff work product.
What You Will Need:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED :
Bachelor’s degree in safety, quality, and/or healthcare related field.
Three years of experience in a healthcare, safety, or quality environment, including experience in management or successfully facilitating significant quality and/or safety initiatives.
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED :
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED :
Master’s degree in safety, quality, and/or healthcare related field.
One-year management/leadership experience.
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, OR REGISTRATION PREFERRED :
- Certification in Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) or Certified Professional in-Patient Safety (CPPS)- If not obtained, must complete within two years of job acceptance.
The Senior Manager Safety & High Reliability is the primary integrator driving the high- reliability culture, a culture of trust and safety performance results for campus leaders. Through delegation of empowerment and courage, acts as the primary advisor to campus leaders regarding performance improvement activities and provides continuous feedback on their impact. Ensures organizational strategy around Safe and Reliable Care is translated and executed to ensure a culture of safety and quality as an organization-wide imperative in both in-patient and ambulatory environments that is customer focused. With close collaboration with the C-Suites Executives, Director of the Collective Consulting Group and Medical Staff Leadership, the Safety and High Reliability Senior Manager will create an inclusive environment and provide project management, leadership and high-reliability coaching to all levels of leadership throughout the assigned facility and responsible HBEDs. The Senior Manager is responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of Unit Culture program at the campus under the direction of the Director of Safety and High Reliability. Works in collaboration with the clinical and operations teams to ensure patient safety. Facilitates performance improvement activities which focus on patient safety and high reliable care. Provides short-term, real-time coaching for physicians, team members and leaders. Provides follow-up updates to the executive team regarding project success to facilitate change.
