Work Hours/Shift:

Full Time

You Will Be Responsible For:

  • Exhibits working knowledge of diagnostic related groups, sequencing of procedure codes in addition to an understanding of Medicare reimbursement guidelines.

  • Keeps abreast of coding guidelines and reimbursement reporting requirements. Brings identified concerns to supervisor or department manager for resolution.

  • Utilizes computerized coding/abstracting equipment.

  • Will abstract clinical, demographic and quality information from medical records for statistical, indexing and third-party payer reimbursement purposes.

  • Abides by the Standards of Ethical Coding as set forth by the American Health Information Management Association and adheres to official coding guidelines.

  • Exhibits working knowledge of diagnostic related groups, sequencing of procedure codes in addition to an understanding of Medicare reimbursement guidelines.

Qualifications

What You Will Need:

  • At least, 1-year vocational study in the field

  • Or, 2-year Associate Degree

  • Or, 4-year Baccalaureate Degree

  • CCS, RHIT, or RHIA required

Job Summary:

Responsible for timely and accurate coding of diagnoses and procedures utilizing ICD-10, CPT-4, and HCPCS utilizing the 3M encoder and other resources. Expected to follow the current Coding Guidelines, CMS regulations, NCCI edits, and all other rules, regulations and policies that may apply
