Location: Advent Health Parker

The role you’ll contribute:

This front-line leadership position is responsible for oversight of day-to-day operations of assigned shift or department. Performs general testing within the analytical core laboratory, including transfusion services. Provides a high level of technical knowledge and application of that knowledge to department testing and clinical relevance. Serves as a liaison with other laboratory departments and hospital services. May perform phlebotomy and clinical and/or pathology specimen management duties as required. This position serves as a department resource and assists in process improvement initiatives and department compliance with pertinent laboratory accreditation and regulatory requirements, such as CLIA, CAP, TJC, and OSHA. Consistently functions in a self-directed manner and exhibits excellent communication and complex problem-solving skills.

  • Handles inquiries and resolves complaints related to laboratory service and information promptly, effectively, and appropriately.

  • Serves as a resource for other associates providing information or resolving complaints. Keeps a customer service approach by following through on such inquiries and complaints and refers to other laboratory leader, department, or system leaders as appropriate.

  • Communicates effectively to coworkers, providers, and other departments through timely notification of critical and significant results and findings, within shift and shift-to-shift communication, laboratory and hospital huddles, occurrence reports, email and other manners to ensure continuity of laboratory operations and patient care.

  • Actively promotes a positive, team-oriented environment that contributes to laboratory, hospital and AdventHealth goals and reflects the mission and values of the system. Shows a service-conscious attitude by keeping respect and service in mind during interactions with others, including coworkers, patients, and other departments and professionals.

  • Exhibits integrity and stewardship through a strong commitment to following laboratory and hospital policies, procedures, and guidelines. Ensures compliance with regulatory and accrediting agency standards and requirements as interpreted through these policies and procedures.

  • Recognizes, provides input, and communicates to other laboratory, system or hospital leaders, opportunities to improve service, quality, productivity, workflows, supply management, and cost containment.

Qualifications

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:

  • 2-years of relevant laboratory work experience

  • Bachelor's degree: Clinical laboratory, chemical or biological science

  • MLS with ASCP certification, or MT with ASCP, AMT, or equivalent certification, or specialty ASCP certification required.
