The role you’ll contribute: Assumes responsibility for developing, implementing & evaluation a program of education for various departments. Openings include Unit Educators for each of the following departments: Acute Care, Critical Care & Cardiac, Emergency & Procedural, and Perioperative. Programming includes initial and ongoing staff competency, standardized department-based orientation for all applicable roles, and continued education as identified by needs assessments and regulatory requirement initiatives. Applies evidence-based practice, policies, procedures, standards, and regulations as appropriate. The education will be designed to positively influence the quality and cost effectiveness of patient care and team member professional development.

Acts as a change agent in support of house wide education initiatives, as applicable to department.
Advances healthcare practice by developing and integrating policies, procedures and standards.
Incorporates evidence-based practice and adult learning theory in project and course content.
Identifies educational needs and opportunities that align with the strategic goals of the hospital using organization data such as regulatory requirements, survey findings, occurrence reporting trends, associate and patient survey responses, and documentation audits.
Collaborates with staff and management to differentiate between associate knowledge deficits versus performance/compliance issues and design an effective plan of action.
Seeks out continuous learning opportunities and continuing education in areas of staff development and clinical expertise. Plans and facilitates education initiatives/classes/events that benefit the staff in collaboration with leaders and stakeholders, to include but not limited to annual competency validation, department orientation, preceptor class, and and/or community committee participation.
Qualifications
The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:
Three years of nursing experience relevant to population served
Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office products
Effective oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal and organizational skills
Self-direction, creativity, initiative to develop education
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in nursing
3 years nursing experience
Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in nursing
Staff development, academic teaching and/or project development experience
Additional life certifications may be required per specialty or practice area
Professional nursing specialty certification in Nursing Professional Development or relevant to population served (obtains within one year of meeting eligibility requirements
