Qualifications

You will be responsible for:

  • Prepare attractive and palatable meals for therapeutic and regular diets in quantities dictated by the food production sheets.

  • Prepare food for patients, cafeteria, and special functions, using creativity and advanced culinary skills.

  • Use Advanced Culinary Skills to develop a training program to assist with the training of other cooks in the department to enhance their skills in food production and service.

  • Maintain sanitary conditions of Kitchen, worktables and other equipment used in the performance of duties; record temperatures appropriately.

  • Make estimates relative to quantities of food required weekly. Make suggestions for changes in patients and cafeteria menus entrée choices to improve customer satisfaction.

  • Assist in putting up stock and maintain rotation of stock, keep storage areas organized and sanitary, with all foods labeled and dated.

  • Check menus for the following day and pulls foods as needed.

  • Any other tasks as assigned by Director.

  • Assist with the management of the department in the absent of the Director.

  • Communicate with Director and other staff to ensure overall organizational needs are met

What will you need?

  • 1 year of food service experience

  • Basic math skills

  • The ability to read and write in English

  • Follow oral and written instructions in English

  • Use of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Power Point

  • Food service knowledge

  • Institutional food service knowledge preferred

  • 1 year institutional food service experience preferred

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred

  • Some culinary education is desirable, but not required preferred
