The role you’ll contribute:
The Pharmacy Automation Technician performs a wide range of supportive duties to assist the Pharmacist in preparing and dispensing medication so that patients receive consistent care. Duties include, operating pharmacy automation system, filling prescription orders, packing and shipping medications. In addition, this position also assists the Pharmacist in maintaining inventory and patient records. This position provides workflow distribution, day-to-day work oversight, reporting, subject matter expertise, and troubleshooting of the Pharmacy automated fulfillment system as assigned. Works only under the supervision of a registered Pharmacist and does not perform duties that can only be legally performed by a registered Pharmacist.

Responsible for maintaining the integrity of assigned manual pick area, keeping area neat and organized; follows up with purchasing technicians on any inventory issues as necessary.
Assures tasks are completed with high quality and efficiency.Ensures that all committed deadlines are met for all assignments and tasks and communicates with Automation Specialist to make sure all totes are filled in a timely manner throughout the day.
Operates and maintains complex pharmacy automation dispensing/computer equipment used to prepare and dispense pharmaceuticals according to pharmacy processes, ensuring a smooth flow of totes through the fulfillment process.
Follows standard filling procedure guidelines such as scanning the correct drug and labels, notifying automation administrator when account has been locked. Keeps filling errors to a minimum, exceeding industry standards.
Proactively updates Automation Supervisor on staffing, team status, operational bottlenecks, or any other issues.
Actively analyzes system to provide accurate and efficient prescription fulfillment in manual processing area, communicating any concerns to Automation Supervisor in a timely manner.
Performs minor mechanical troubleshooting tasks and daily cleaning, Kirby Lester maintenance, and filling of manual picking areas.
Works with purchasing technicians to assure high quality inventory levels are established and maintained for manual filling areas and automation robot as assigned.
Responsible for monthly medication date checks, ensuring that all medications in active inventory are within Pharmacy’s established product expiration date range; works with purchasing technicians to process any necessary medication returns.
Responsible for restocking the shelves with daily drug order, rotating stock accordingly and placing drugs in appropriate assigned areas.
Refills automation medication canisters according to pharmacy processes, documenting the appropriate quantity added, LOT #, and Expiration Date of all medications scanned into the automated machine.
Troubleshoot automation system/computer equipment quickly and effectively, limiting the break in production flow and communicate any issues impacting the fulfillment process to Manager in a timely manner.
Completes USPS, SmartPost and FedEx processes for proper shipment in a timely manner and communicates any order discrepancies to the appropriate staff member.
Packs all medications appropriately according to pharmacy packing policy to assure no damage during shipping and the integrity of the medication is maintained.
Completes accuracy check to confirm the correct medication is sent to the correct member with the correct paperwork at all times and no HIPPA/PHI violations occur.
Always works within registered pharmacy technician mandated scope of practice guidelines.
Qualifications
The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed :
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED :
High School diploma or equivalent.
1 year of retail or mail-order pharmacy setting
