You Will Be Responsible For:

  • Participate and collaborate with Senior Management staff and fellow Directors to continuously raise the level of service provided by staff to all of the hospital’s customers

  • Communicates with courtesy when interacting with internal or external customers, in person or on the telephone.

  • Respects patient privacy, confidentiality and dignity

  • Participates in Quality Improvement activities to improve processes and patient care

  • Understands and complies with the Environment of Care/Infection Control policies and procedures

  • Demonstrates knowledge of role in Emergency Preparedness Program and participates in disaster drills, as appropriate

  • Demonstrates knowledge of role in the Life Safety Program and participates in Fire Drills as appropriate

  • Follows hospital and departmental Infection Control policies and procedures

  • Directs and manages each departmental function and productivity

  • Assures that all departmental staff efforts are organized for maximum efficiency, control and productivity, training and cross-training of personnel

  • Develops and assigns realistic and innovative performance goals, providing ongoing reports, and communicating to staff on regular basis

  • Conducts training meetings with staff monthly to ensure that employees are developed and adequately educated

  • Assures that all employees receive appropriate Departmental Orientation based on Hospital Policy

  • Monitors departmental activity to assure compliance with regulatory agencies or third party payers

  • Develops and maintains internal controls to ensure all pertinent billing/reimbursement information is obtained at time of registration and patients are processed efficiently and courteously.

  • Maintain budgeted FTE equivalent for responsible departments

  • Complies with the Employee Code of Conduct


What You Will Need:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited University in Health Management, Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or related area.

  • 3 to 5 years experience in Hospital Business Office/Registration management position dealing directly with patients, physicians, nursing and ancillary departments.

  • Experience must include scheduling, insurance verification, financial counseling, pre-certification and registration

Job Summary:

The incumbent is responsible for the overall Patient Access operations for the University Community Health hospital system. Major responsibilities include the timely, accurate and effective registration of patients receiving a broad range of hospital services. Emphasis is placed on providing a seamless registration process from scheduling, pre-registration, insurance verification, pre-certification, financial counseling and pre-collection of patient responsibility. Functional areas reporting to this position include: Patient Registration, Central Scheduling, Insurance Verification, Financial Counseling, and Registration.
