You will be responsible for:

  • Greets all customers (patients, guests, families, staff, physicians, vendors, etc) in a helpful and courteous manner while extending exemplary customer service.

  • Anticipates and responds to inquiries and needs in an assertive, yet courteous manner.

  • Assists all customers, guests, patients, and healthcare teams with appropriate information requested.

  • Registers patients for Outpatient and Inpatient services, ensuring patient demographics and account information is appropriate for patient account type as determined by patient’s visit and as directed by Patient Access Leadership.

  • Responsible for placing clear and thorough financial assessments, authorizations/pre-certs, and/or benefit memos on patient accounts to ensure expeditious billing and to protect financial standing of Florida Hospital.

  • Meets or exceeds accuracy standard goal determined by Patient Access Leadership.

  • Ensures integrity of patient accounts by working error reports daily, entering accurate data, and documenting all attempts made to collect and/or obtain missing documentation.

  • Meets or exceeds upfront collection standard goal assigned to location of responsibility to protect financial standing of Florida Hospital.

  • Proactively seeks assistance to improve collections.

  • Reviews all collection reports timely, as assigned by leadership.

  • May perform cashiering functions and other duties as required in support of the pre-established legal and financial guidelines of Florida Hospital.

  • Performs eligibility and benefits verification applicable to patients visit.

  • Uses utmost caution that authorizations and pre-certifications are correct and as accurate as possible to avoid rejections and/or denials.

  • Maintains a current and thorough knowledge of utilizing online eligibility and pre-certification tools made available.

  • Specifically takes responsibility for current monthly standard of total patient wait time in department, by ensuring all pre-registered and walk-in patient accounts are created and/or completed timely.

  • Makes productive use of downtime by reviewing individual account logs and/or error reports, updating accounts thoroughly.

  • During peak registration times, supports department by ensuring patients are processed through system protocols quickly, as outlined by PA/PFS Customer Service Escalation Plan.

  • Daily prepares to begin work immediately, by being at workstation as scheduled by department leadership in order to offer continuous patient service and be available for all clinical partners registration needs.

  • Maintains schedule flexibility and exhibits effective time management skills by monitoring time and attendance to limit use of unauthorized overtime.

  • Adheres to HIPAA regulations by verifying pertinent information to determine caller or visitor authorization level before releasing account information.


What will you need?

  • Basic computer skills.

  • Proficient in using multiple computer applications interchangeably.

  • Communicates professionally with an acceptable use of English and spelling.

  • Ability to follow directions.

  • Works independently in most situations while multitasking.

  • Capable of working with people of various diverse backgrounds.

  • Customer service skills.

  • Typing skills equal to or greater than 27 words per minute net.

  • Knowledge of computer programs including Cerner, Registration screens. (Preferred)

  • Medical Terminology. (Preferred)

  • Successful completion of Florida Hospital Registration Training class (training will be provided post-hire, if not previously completed). (Preferred)

  • High School diploma or GED

  • Prior Collections Experience
