Work Hours/Shift:

Full time, Nights

You Will Be Responsible For:

  • Assists and coordinates the immediate off-load of patients arriving via EMS with the primary nurse and/or charge nurse

  • Participates in the assessment, evaluation and effectiveness of the plan of care on an ongoing basis

  • Promptly notifies the physician and/or primary nurse of untoward changes in a patient’s condition

  • Monitors cardiac/telemetry status and vital functions of all patients

  • Recognize hemodynamic changes and lethal arrhythmias

  • Establishes and maintains patency of peripheral intravenous lines

  • Obtains specimens within a timely manner of arrival

  • Assists in Advanced Cardiac Life Support and/or PALS under physician direction and performs in role assigned

  • Assists with preparation of medications related to ACLS and/or PALS under the direction of a physician

  • Assists with the replenishing of crash cart supplies and other essential equipment

  • Proficient in the use and maintenance of emergency equipment

  • Responds to Rapid Response codes and other codes as assigned

  • Documentation in the electronic medical record (Cerner)

Qualifications

What You Will Need:

  • Associates of Science (AS) degree

  • One year patient care or field experience

  • Current Paramedic License with the State of Florida Department of Health

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required prior to hire

  • Current active Florida Paramedic license

  • NRP and PHTLS are optional

  • Effective oral and written communication skills in the English language

  • Basic computer skills.

  • Associates of Science (AS) degree (preferred)

  • One year patient care or field experience (preferred)

Job Summary:

The Emergency Services Paramedic practices is primarily responsible for collaborating with the Charge Nurse and/or primary nurse to deliver expeditious patient care as assigned throughout the department. The paramedic assists the primary nurse to implement physician orders for our patient population while practicing within the scope of his/her licensure. The paramedic provides a safe and supportive environment for all patients, families, and coworkers.
