You Will Be Responsible For:

Provides regular, standardized volume and referral reports, as well as volume strategy updates to Cancer Center Director. Develops strategies to expand the Center’s referral base and retain existing business, working with the Director. Works marketing teams to promote the Center.

Responsible for the efficient use of the Center’s operating budget. Manages daily expenses, ensures timely and accurate coding and billing, approves departmental invoices and expenditures, provides monthly budget report to Director, and implements corrective action plans to address budget variances as needed. Develops annual operating and capital budget for the Center. Develops five-year capital plan, working with the physicians and Chief Physicist.

Develops appropriate relationships with the Center’s referring physicians and their office staff. Ensures there is excellent coordination of care and communication regarding services. Fosters positive interactions with providers.

Develops and implements process and quality improvement initiatives for the department ongoing. Serves as a resource for hospital quality and process improvement initiatives as needed.

Assists Director with planning and business development strategies, and supports execution plans as needed.

Monitors patient satisfaction with the Center. Develops and implements strategies to improve patient satisfaction, customer service (to patients and physicians), and addresses any patient/physician complaints or safety issues in a timely manner.

Coordinates equipment and facilities maintenance. Ensures equipment is maintained according to required service schedules, and addresses any facility or equipment issues in a timely manner.

Oversees department supply inventory and orders routine items as needed.

Works with the Chief Physicist on implementation of new treatment techniques and methods, and new equipment.

Direct oversight of all Radiation Center staff. Supervises daily activities of the department. Responsible for maintaining adequate staffing. Manages all human resources issues related to Center staff under his/her direct supervision, including hiring, firing, conducting performance evaluations, etc. Coaches staff and coordinates in services, education and training, as needed. Initiates tasks such as salary surveys, performance bonuses, payroll corrections and compensation market analyses as needed. Maintains up-to-date job descriptions. Coordinates for coverage with other Florida Hospital sites as needed. Implements flexible staffing when appropriate. Serves as back up for clinical coverage for therapy staff as needed.

Oversees equipment maintenance and service, and manages equipment service contracts.

Meets with State and Federal Inspectors, as needed.

Leads ACR accreditation application process, and responsible for ongoing compliance with ACR standards.

Responsible for ensuring implementation of quality assurance and performance indicators on an ongoing basis and timely reporting. Assures therapies are safely administered as prescribed by the physicians.

Assures patient care is monitored and appropriately documented, particularly nursing assessments, treatment, order completion, patient education and support, and referral for follow up care.

Meets regularly with Radiation physicians, Director, direct reports and staff to promote a cohesive, team centered environment, and to encourage exchange of ideas regarding the goals and operations of the department. Communicates daily with physicians and staff to coordinate patient treatment, equipment quality control and radiation safety.

Monitors staff satisfaction and engagement scores, develops and implements plans to increase scores, as required, and ensures staff awareness and engagement in campus initiatives. Keeps staff, physicians and campus informed of pertinent information relating to the Center.

Ensures regulatory readiness by monitoring results of tracers and corrective action plans. Updates Director regularly on process of corrective action plans.

Actively participates in Radiation Safety Committee. Actively participates in other meetings when requested such as Capital Committee, Comprehensive Cancer Committee, strategic planning meetings, and campus leadership meetings.

Participates in team building and community service activities.

Performs special projects, other duties and chairs committees as assigned.

Qualifications

What You Will Need:

  • Minimum of five years’ experience as a licensed Radiation Therapist

  • Minimum of five to eight years’ experience in leading, supervising or managing operations of a radiation oncology center

  • Current, valid State of Florida radiation therapy (RTT) license

  • Current, valid State of Florida driver’s license

Job Summary:

Radiation Therapy Manager oversees the clinical, clerical, and financial operations of the Florida Hospital Waterman Radiation Oncology center. The SL manages internal operations; implements policies and procedures, and ensures staff conformance to procedures and efficient functioning of the center. The SL is responsible for the center’s coding/charges, patient volumes, marketing, regulatory compliance, facility maintenance, and equipment.
