Cardiovascular Sonographer

JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for using diagnostic medical equipment to diagnose various medical conditions. Sonography is the use of sound waves to generate an image for assessment and diagnosis. May specialize in obstertric/gynecologic, abdominal, vascular, neurosongraphy, echocardiography or other clinical specialty. Performs professional duties involved in a variety of technical sonographic diagnoses. Has latitude for independent judgement, ingenuity and initiative. Assists physicians as requested and selects practical application and technical factors

PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS

Must be able to stand for long periods of time.; Able to walk, climb, stand, turn, twist, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, lift at least 25 lbs, carry, finger, hold, talk, see with a good field of vision, and hear; Communicate on the telephone and directly with patients; read paperwork, printouts and computer screens; Requires manual dexterity sufficient to maintain files, operate a keyboard, calculator, telephone, copier and other small desk equipment and computer; Works primarily with diagnostic imaging machines.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  1. High School graduate or equivalent is required.

  2. Minimum of one or more years of experience and/or training.

  3. Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, instrumentation, basic physics, patient care, and medical ethics.

  4. Must be willing to float to other FHMG practices, within reason, when patient load, vacation schedules etc. make it necessary.

  5. Demonstrates ability to communicate by reading, writing legibly, speaking and comprehending English effectively in order to carry out job requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Registered in both Cardiac and Vascular

  2. Minimum of 2 years of experience

CERTIFICATE/LICENSE

Certification/Registration through American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonogoraphers (ARDMS) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) is requiredWhat makes working at Florida Hospital Medical Group special?
