Adventist System’s Transition Nurse Program is ideal for nurses who want to “Transition” into a Hospital work setting. The Transition Nurse Program will provide a series of learning experiences through a 9-week training process designed to assist you with acquiring new skills while bridging the gap between your current experience and optimal Acute Care Practice.

Nurses in our fast-paced Medical/Surgical Department rely on a team approach to care for adult and geriatric patients with a wide variety of diagnoses related to gastrointestinal, urology, neurology, oncology, respiratory, cardiac, and orthopedic disease processes. Strong critical thinking, multitasking, and communication skills are needed to excel in this environment, where employees are continually challenged to learn and grow. The Transitional Nurse Program will offer FT positions ONLY for the following Medical Surgical Specialty Units:

· -Med/Surg Ortho

· -Med/Surg Telemetry

· -Med/Surg Medical

· -Med/Surg Observation

· -Med/Surg Oncology

· -Med/Surg Float

*Candidate may be considered for position outside of Medical Surgical if prior experience is possessed by applicant.

Qualifications

Program Summary:

The Transitional Nurse Program is designed to be a clinical skills re-fresher with competency checkoff, simulated assessment, Ortho, Surgical, & Cardiac review, basic EKG class, emergency scenarios, integrated computer training, and glycemic management software system

What will you need?

  • Current Florida Registered Nurse license required or if New graduate, offer contingent on passing NCLEX

  • Basic Life Support (BLS)- (Accredited through American Heart Association) required

  • Department Specific:

  • Current ACLS at time of hire for ED, ICU, CVICU, PCU, OR, PACU, Med/Surg Observation & Cardiac, and Endoscopy.
