Work Hours/Shift:

Part time/Various shift

You Will Be Responsible For:

  • Conducts fitness assessments and prescribes exercise programs for medical members and is responsible for follow-up with these members. May also be required to send reports to the member’s referring physician.

  • Coordinates and administers individual exercise program consultations for members, including high risk members, based on current American College of Sports Medicine (“ACSM”) guidelines. Coordinates referrals to and from FHWC for appropriate intervention based on Health & Wellness Center guidelines.

  • Collaborates with Outpatient Rehab to facilitate referrals to the HWC and from the HWC to Outpatient Rehab, as needed.

  • Reviews and approves all physician approvals to resume exercising, initiate exercising, or perform testing.

Assists Fitness and Programs Manager with the development, implementation and administration of the Physician Referral Program, including interaction with physicians, physician office staff members and FHWC physician representatives


What You Will Need:

  • M.S. degree in Exercise Physiology, Exercise Science, Kinesiology or related major.

  • Three years of experience in related field.

  • BLS Certification required upon hire.

  • Exercise is Medicine Credential Level 2 or 3. (Must be completed within 6 months of employment)

  • ACSM Health & Fitness Specialist, CSCS or ACE specialty certifications

Job Summary:

Reporting to the Fitness & Programs Manager, the Exercise Physiologist provides professional fitness services to members and clients based on their health and fitness needs, which includes fitness testing, performing customer service tasks, and assisting members with exercise routines and equipment utilization. Additionally, the EP II monitors medical memberships (members at higher risk and requiring physician’s clearances). The EP II is responsible for developing, creating and maintaining a high-quality fitness program for chronic conditions based on the ‘Exercise is Medicine ’ principles. Furthermore, the EP II will provide Level 2 or 3 (Health & Fitness Specialist) personal training.
