AdministrativeMedical Assistant

JOB SUMMARY

The

Administrative Medical Assistant is responsible for greeting patients,

scheduling appointments, verifying insurance, reviewing new patient

registration and entering patient information into the practice’s designated

system. Additionally, provides appropriate care to patients within the scope of

the Medical Practice Act. This

individual obtains clinical, financial and demographic patient data and assists

in patient education. Also responsible

for assisting providers during the treatment and examination of patients and

administers procedures and treatments as ordered by the provider.

PHYSICALQUALIFICATIONS

Able

to stand, sit, walk, climb, turn, twist, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, lift at least

25 lbs, carry, finger, hold, talk, see with a good field of vision, and hear;

Communicate on the telephone and directly with patients; read paperwork,

printouts and computer screens; Requires manual dexterity sufficient to

maintain files, operate a keyboard, calculator, telephone, copier and other

small desk equipment and computer.

PERFORMANCEREQUIREMENTS

Knowledge

of business office procedures. Knowledge

of English grammar, spelling and punctuation to type patient information. Skill in operating a computer, photocopy/fax

machine and scanner. Skill in greeting patients and answering the telephone in

a professional, pleasant and helpful manner.

Ability to speak clearly and concisely.

Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instruction. Ability to sort and file materials correctly

by alphabetic or numeric systems. Ability to type 40 words per minute

accurately. Ability to establish and

maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees, and others.

JOBQUALIFICATIONS

  1. High

school graduate or equivalent is required.

  1. One

year of medical office experience preferred.

  1. Experience

with computers and associated clinical software preferred.

  1. Must

be willing to float to other AHMG practices, within reason, when patient load,

vacation schedules etc. make it necessary.

  1. Demonstrates

ability to communicate by reading, writing legibly, speaking and comprehending

English effectively in order to carry out job requirements.

CERTIFICATE/LICENSE

  1. Must

be currently certified and maintain certification by one of the following:

  • American

Association of Medical Assistants (“AAMA”) for Certified Medical Assistants

  • American

Medical Certification Association (“AMCA”) for Clinical Medical Assistant

Certification

  • American

Medical Technologists (“AMT”) for Registered Medical Assistant

  • National

Association for Health Professionals (“NAHP”) for Nationally Registered

Certified Medical Assistant

  • National Center for Competency Testing (“NCCT”) for National Certified

Medical Assistant

  • National Healthcare Association (“NHA”) for

Registered Clinical Medical Assistant

  1. Current,

valid CPR certification is required.
