Work Hours/Shift:

Full Time/Days

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES :

  1. Responsible for day to day operations including staffing and patient flow in the unit, under the direction of the Director.

  2. Maintain clinical competencies and must be able to assist as needed at the bedside.

  3. Ensures a positive Patient Experience through the use of the tools provided (i.e. Bedside Shift Report, Hourly Rounding, Nurse Leader Rounding, Interdisciplinary Team Rounding, use of Key Words) by the staff.

  4. Plans, designs, directs, integrates, and coordinates the nursing care for the service, inclusive of specific age groups dependent on the service standard of care.

  5. Incumbent in the position are the leadership responsibilities for providing collaborative processes to facilitate development of the hospital’s mission, vision and values within the department.

  6. Assists the Administrative Director and Chief Nursing Officer with strategic planning and operational plans, service designs, resource allocation and organizational policies.

  7. Provides leadership for patient care and support services, communicates objectives, and coordinates efforts to integrate these services throughout the hospital.

  8. Improves performance by establishing expectations, plans and priorities; manages performance improvement processes within the department and implements processes to measure, assess and improve the performance of management, clinical and support processes.

  9. Educates and coaches Assistant Nurse Managers, Clinical Coordinators, and staff members to improve skills and knowledge.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED :

  • Excellent customer service/ communication skills

  • Commitment to the organization’s Patient Experience initiatives

  • Experience working with orthopedic patients including total joint replacements

  • Ability to develop outstanding rapport and work well with the physicians & staff

  • Ability to communicate effectively and present information to both large and small groups

  • Computer knowledge and skills, prior experience with an Electronic Health Record KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS PREFERRED:

  • Knowledge of regulatory standards ( Joint Commission, OSHA, Specialty Standards)

  • Cerner medical record experience EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED :

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing

  • BSN degree, will consider individual completing the degree

  • Two or more years of recent experience in an orthopedic unit

  • Minimum of 2 years in a leadership/management role

  • Minimum of 3 years as a staff RN and Clinical Coordinator/Assistant Nurse Manager EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

· MSN or Masters in Health Administration or related field

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED :

  • Current Florida licensure as a Registered Nurse

  • Current American Heart Association BLS Certification.

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION PREFERRED:

  • Certified Orthopedic Nurse – required within 18 months of hire if not present on hire

  • Nurse Management/Nurse Leader Certification

  • LEAN Leadership Certification completion within two years – provided by the hospital

  • ACLS certification preferred
