Work Hours/Shift:

Full Time

You Will Be Responsible For:

  • Will supervise and oversee the Nursing Supervisors at both Dade City and Zephyrhills campus.

  • Reviews staffing and census of all nursing units to determine if staffing is consistent with the budget, staffing grids and patient needs. Adjusts staff as possible.

  • Facilitates efficient patient admissions and patient flow.

  • Makes frequent rounds throughout hospital to assess and resolve issues and incidents.

  • Available for consultation to the staff as needed.

  • Promotes good interpersonal relations between all departments.

  • Assists staff in obtaining equipment and supplies as needed.

  • Provides crisis intervention for all hospital departments.

  • Responds to and leads all code events.

  • Assists in handling emergency surgery by contacting Surgical Services and Cardiac Cath Lab staff on call.

  • Communicates shift occurrences through the daily Administrative Supervisor report.

  • Ensures documentation of incidents into Risk Master.

  • Assists staff in end-of-life situations.

  • Serves as mentor to Departmental Shift Supervisors and Charge Nurses by providing guidance in problem-solving, crisis intervention and conflict resolution.

  • Provides on-going and current evaluation of Patient and Customer experience.

  • Communicates to Department Director/Manager issues regarding/needing employee counseling and/or discipline.

  • Oversees the completion of outstanding core measures/value-based purchasing items during off shifts.

  • Approves department time for payroll Monday

  • Approves requested time-off

  • Reviews and completes Talent Care Developmental conversations

  • Review/Approve changes to time clock punches

  • Manages temporary/agency staff

  • Accesses compensation related information (pay rates, pay history, etc.)

  • Submits forms to change job data (i.e., job title, pay rate, full-time/ part-time status, shift, location, standard hours)

  • Notifies HR if an employee resigns, transfers or leaves without notice

  • Create the request for replacement staff

  • Arranges interviews with the team for opened positions, and other managerial tasks as assigned by Administrative Director Clinical Services/ CNO

Qualifications

What You Will Need:

  • Thorough understanding of hospital policies, procedures and legal aspects of acute care nursing

  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing

  • Basic computer skills, including experience with an Electronic Health Record

  • Five or more years of recent acute care hospital nursing experience upon hire

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing upon hire

  • Charge experience, lead, clinical coordinator or nurse manager experience

  • Active Florida RN or APRN license required upon hire.

  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or RQI upon hire.

  • Current American Heart Association Advanced Life Support (ACLS) certification or RQI upon hire .

  • Current American Heart Association Pediatric Life Support (PALS) certification or RQI upon hire

  • NIHSS Certification upon hire

  • AVADE Education within 90 days of hire date.

  • 8 hours Stroke Education within 6 months of hire date, then annually.

  • 8 hours Hip and Knee Replacement / Spine Education within 6 months of hire date, then annually.

Job Summary:

In collaboration with Nursing Leadership and Hospital Directors, coordinates hospital activities in the absence of Directors and Managers. Working with Nursing Leadership, coordinates daily staffing needs. Supports Nursing Leadership in planning for future staffing needs. Facilitates placement of direct admissions and those from the Emergency Department. Assures effective and timely communication to staff, Department Directors and Administrator-on-Call. Investigates and resolves possible, incidents and issues. Communicates findings as appropriate to Department Director/Manager, Administrator-On-Call and/or Risk Manager.
